Arrowhead Regional Medical Center’s New Graduate RN Residency Program is now accredited as a Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP), which is administered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This accreditation is recognized as the global standard of excellence for healthcare programs that help newly graduated or experienced nurses transition into new clinical settings.

ARMC began its formal new graduate residency program in 2019, and since then, more than 550 ARMC nurses have participated in this structured program, preparing them to become expert nurses within ARMC. This is an outstanding accomplishment and a testament to the dedication and commitment of our team.

It is also worth celebrating that only about 350 hospitals worldwide have achieved ANCC PTAP accreditation, placing ARMC among a distinguished group of organizations.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the success of our residency program and PTAP accreditation.

In this month’s edition of “What’s Your Why Wednesday,” meet Jennifer Steffler, a nurse in Arrowhead Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Department.

When Jennifer was 17, she was brought to ARMC as a trauma patient. Throughout her stay, it was the nursing staff who stood out to her with their kindness and thoughtful gestures. Jennifer came away from that experience inspired to go to nursing school and has now been a nurse at ARMC for 19 years.

In her current role, Jennifer is also a preceptor for ARMC’s new nurses. She sees the opportunity to make a difference in small moments to help patients feel safe, valued, and heard, and uses that approach to teach new nursing grads to do the same.

Thank you, Jennifer, for your compassion, constantly advocating for our patients, and sharing your story!
