Breast cancer risk isn't the same for everyone.

You may be at higher risk if you have factors such as a strong family history of breast or ovarian cancer, a BRCA1, BRCA2, or other hereditary cancer gene mutation, dense breast tissue, certain previous breast biopsy results, or prior chest radiation before age 30.

MRI provides high-resolution images of the body's organs and soft tissues without using X-ray radiation.

For cancer care, this detailed imaging can be particularly valuable when evaluating cancers that may be difficult to see with other diagnostic methods. MRI can also play an important role in follow-up imaging to help evaluate how treatment is progressing.

Some patients may benefit from genetic testing for hereditary mutations such as BRCA1 or BRCA2. SCOA partners with board-certified genetic counselors from USC and Prisma Health to provide hereditary cancer risk assessments, coordinate genetic testing, and help patients understand their results.
