Last Thursday, two of our amazing OTs, Jessica and Jana, had the opportunity to present to the University of Louisiana Monroe’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program on the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration between Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy.

Their presentation focused on practical sensory strategies that can be incorporated into PT sessions to better meet each patient’s unique sensory needs, improve participation, and support progress toward functional goals. By working together and sharing knowledge across disciplines, we can provide more effective, individualized care for the children and families we serve.

We love opportunities to collaborate, educate, and invest in the future of healthcare professionals. Thank you to ULM’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program for having us. We’re honored to be a small part of preparing the next generation of therapists! ❤️💛

🍭💦 What a SWEET way to wrap up Sweet Summertime Water Week! 🍉🍦

We had a great time celebrating the end of our Sweet Summertime Water Week with our amazing speech and occupational therapy friends! From start to finish, each session was filled with laughter, learning, smiles, and LOTS of splashes! 💙☀️

Our kiddos had a blast:
🍬 Decorating King Kandy’s Castle
💦 Racing down the slip ’n slides (Fudge Falls)
🍉 Exploring hands-on water play
🍭 Completing fun, play-based therapy challenges inspired by candy, fruit, ice cream, and all things sweet!

At The SPOT, we believe the best learning happens through play, & this week was the perfect reminder that therapy can be meaningful, engaging, and full of smiles!

A huge thank you to all of our wonderful families for helping make this week so special. We hope everyone has a sweet, safe, and splash-filled summer! 🍓🍦☀️💦

🍭💦 Our second day water adventures were extra SWEET! 🍦🍉🍓

From decorating King Kandy’s Castle, sliding down Fudge Falls, swimming, & just having creative fun to making friends!☀️

The best part? Our kids had so much fun they didn’t even realize how hard they were working! 💙

We can’t wait to see what tomorrow’s Water Week adventure brings! 🌊☀️

The countdown to The SPOT’s annual Water Week is ON! 🥳

Next week, June 29-July 2, all treatment sessions will take place outside with fun water-based activities to celebrate {sweet} summertime 🍭 and the completion of another school year! We can’t wait to celebrate with our kiddos! 🎉💦

Don’t forget-
⏰ Arrive promptly at your scheduled appointment time
💧 Come dressed in clothes that CAN get wet
👕 Bring a towel and a change of clothes

If you ordered a Water Week shirt, those will be waiting for you next week when you arrive at your scheduled appointment time! 🤗

⛵Blissfully Floating Into Summer☀️

Some of our kiddos took on the challenge of building an origami boat and using tape to make it “water-proof” before testing it out to see if it floats! 🌊

While this looks like simple summer fun, this activity can provide opportunities to target a variety of skills, including:
⚓ Problem-solving and critical thinking
⚓ Planning and sequencing
⚓ Fine motor skills and bilateral coordination
⚓ Following directions
⚓ Attention and task persistence
⚓ Descriptive language and vocabulary
⚓ Predicting, reasoning, and answering questions
⚓ Social interaction and teamwork

Hands-on learning is one of our favorite ways to help our kiddos build skills while having fun! 💙
