October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month!

This month is a reminder to celebrate the strengths, individuality, and contributions of people with Down syndrome while continuing to advocate for greater inclusion, opportunity, and support. Together, we can challenge stereotypes and help create a world where everyone is empowered to thrive.

Lauren Kelley is a junior majoring in biological sciences at the University of South Carolina. She joined the DD lab in the fall of 2026 and is working on data entry and post-assessment prep. Lauren plans to pursue a career as a physician assistant after graduation and is excited to gain research experience.

The Developmental Dynamics Lab at the University of South Carolina is seeking a PhD student to join the lab in Fall 2027!

This fully funded opportunity includes tuition support and a stipend, along with advanced training in diagnostic and biobehavioral methods.

Eleanor is a sophomore at the University of South Carolina majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior. She plans to attend medical school and pursue a career as a physician after graduation. Eleanor joined the Developmental Dynamics Lab in Fall 2026 and is excited to be part of the team!

Delaney is a first-year master’s student in speech-language pathology! She graduated from Florida State University, and her dream is to work in the NICU. Delaney enjoyed her experience working with Deaf and hard-of-hearing children at FSU and looks forward to future clinical experiences.
