Happy Juneteenth! Today marks the 161st anniversary of the day that signaled the end of legalized slavery in the United States, a milestone deeply rooted in the American story of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice.

Dr. Cartledge, Dacia, and Shiloe (summer intern, not pictured) enjoyed participating in a vision screening for the employees of the Columbia Housing Authority. They got to interact with 20 employees while doing a quick vision screening, providing ocular health information, and resources for follow up for a comprehensive eye examination. Thankful to be invited as a participant for their health and wellness week event.

Dr. Cartledge and Dacia enjoyed attending the Women’s Health & Wellness Event this past Saturday at First Nazareth Baptist Church. Dr. Cartledge was able to share with her church family vital information concerning eye diseases and eye examinations. They both enjoyed hearing from the other presenters as well as participating in the chair yoga portion of the event!

Dr. Cartledge and staff enjoyed their monthly team building activity of a Lego party! They enjoyed a friendly competition of seeing who could be the first one to build the Love letters. They discussed how they can show love in the workplace by being respectful, supporting each other as needed, listening, and providing constructive feedback. In addition, they played the Brick Like This Lego game which allowed them to work in pairs on their listening skills and ability to follow directions from their partner to build a pattern. Fun was had by all and they got some great takeaways from the activity.
