Healthy Blue South Carolina

Healthy Blue South Carolina We have a name you can trust. When you cover yourself in Blue, it’s all about you. We have a history of caring. We launched our first HMO in 1984. government.

In 2008, we added our Medicaid option for people who are eligible in South Carolina. When we first went live, we were in 34 counties with fewer than 10,000 members. Since then, we are proud to say we have grown to be in every county in the state. Our main focus is you. We make sure:
• You have low copayments for visits to doctors and for generic or brand drugs.
• You get free extra benefits like

a free cellphone with free monthly minutes, data and text messages; a reloadable card to use at certain retail stores if you get your checkups; free car seat; girl scout membership; boys and girls club membership and free books for your young child.
• We have a prenatal program for moms-to-be.
• We also have a nurse help line you can call 24/7 to talk privately about any health topic. Or you can get help deciding what to do or where to go for a health problem.
• Our local staff can help you. Community Resource Coordinators help match your needs with local resources to get you the right care.
• When you need one, you get a case manager. A case manager will work with you and your doctors to help you take care of health issues like asthma, diabetes and pregnancy. Developing Healthy Habits for Children

As parents and caregivers, it's our responsibility to help our children establish healthy habits that will benefit them throughout their lives. 🧒👧

🥦 Nutrition: Start by introducing a variety of fruits and vegetables into their diet. Encourage them to make smart food choices, and involve them in meal preparation. 🍏🥕

🏃‍♂️ Physical Activity: Make exercise fun! Take family walks, play active games, and limit screen time. Let's keep our kids moving and enjoying an active lifestyle. 🏋️‍♀️🚴‍♂️

😴 Sleep: Ensure they get enough sleep for their age. A good night's rest is crucial for growth and development. Establish a bedtime routine to make it easier. 😴💤

📚 Education: Foster a love for learning by reading together, exploring new interests, and supporting their education. Knowledge is the key to a bright future! 📖🧠

🚰 Hydration: Keep them hydrated with water throughout the day. Limit sugary drinks and teach them the importance of staying hydrated. 💧🥤

Let's work together to give our children the tools they need to lead happy and healthy lives. Share your own tips and experiences in the comments below! 🙌💬

Moms, are you planning a pool, lake, river or beach day with your little ones this summer?

South Carolina summers are made for water fun, but a few simple safety steps can help keep your family safe.

☀️ Choose bright swimsuit colors like orange, pink, yellow or lime green. These colors are easier to see under the water than blue or white swimsuits.

👋 Stay within arm's reach of young children, even if they know how to swim.

📵 Put phones and other distractions away when children are in or near the water.

🦺 Use a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket when boating or spending time around lakes, rivers and other open water.

👀 Pick a "Water Watcher." This adult's only job is to watch the children in and around the water.

🧒 Teach children to ask an adult before going near the water.

💧 Take water breaks often and wear sunscreen to protect against the South Carolina sun.

Remember: drowning can happen quickly and quietly. A little extra attention can make a big difference.
