For Veterans enrolled in VA health care, VA Health Connect offers 24/7 virtual care — to include tele-emergency care. All it takes is a phone, computer, or tablet. VA Health Connect also is available through VA Health Chat. By contacting your local VA medical center, you can speak to a VA Health Connect nurse who can connect you to the right level of care. Depending on the need, a provider can evaluate you over the phone or via video and recommend treatment or advise where and when you should go if in-person care is needed. To connect with Truman VA's Tele-Emergency Care, please call (573) 814-6000, and then press 3.

Scammers target Disabled Veteran athletes with fake offers of free or discounted adaptive sports equipment. They steal money and personal information by demanding upfront fees for items that never arrive.

Guidance to avoid scams:
1. Buy from trusted sources: Verify vendors before purchasing. Review online reviews.
2. Be Wary of Unrealistic Deals: If a deal seems too good to be true, it likely is.
3. Protect Personal Information: Do not give out your personal or VA account credentials to anyone.
4. Consult VA: If in doubt, consult VA or your adaptive sports program coordinator for advice.

If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out to your VA contact person or adaptive sports program coordinator immediately.

Veterans who suspect they have experienced fraud can find out more and report to the appropriate agency at VSAFE.gov or by calling (833) 38V-SAFE.
