For nearly six years, Columbia VA Health Care System social worker Sherleita Corley was someone U.S. Army Veteran Timothy Langston could count on. When he passed away, she made sure he wouldn’t be forgotten or laid to rest without someone there to honor his life and service.

His story is a powerful reminder that caring for Veterans goes beyond appointments and programs. It means building trust, showing compassion and being there when someone needs you most.

The Columbia VA Health Care System is hosting a Health Care for Homeless Veterans Stand Down on Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will bring together VA and community resources to connect Veterans experiencing homelessness with services, support and opportunities that can help them move toward stability.

💗💜 Today, Team Columbia came together for our Pink & Purple Walk at the Dorn VA Medical Center to raise awareness of breast cancer and intimate partner violence.

The event brought our community together to highlight important issues affecting the lives and well-being of Veterans and those around them.

A special congratulations to Veteran Vernice Jordan, who took home the Best Dressed honors! She stood out in a colorful pink and purple wig, stylish purple shoes, pink attire and a purple foldable fan. She certainly brought the spirit of the event! 👏
