I’m grateful to be featured in Helpful Living Magazine again. My newest article is titled: “We Weren’t There, So Why Does It Feel Like We Were?”

With tragic news stories increasingly unfolding around the world, many of us are carrying emotional weight that we cannot always name. You may feel anxious, sad, overwhelmed, angry, numb, or unable to stop checking for updates—even when the tragedy did not happen directly to you.

This can be part of vicarious trauma: the emotional and physical impact of repeatedly witnessing or absorbing the suffering of others.

In this article, I discuss how constant breaking news can affect our nervous systems and share gentle ways to create healthier boundaries with information while still honoring our compassion for others.

Read the full article at the link in my bio or in the newest issue of Helpful Living Magazine. Thank you for reading, sharing, and making room for conversations that support healing. 💚

I’m seeing a lot of “accepting new clients” posts! But what if you could get to the place of being BOOKED‼️

So, you have your license or credentials, your website, Psychology Today profile, directories, and business setup—but you are still not getting consistent inquiries or converting them into steady clients.

📔I’m considering the release of a guide for beginner therapists, recent graduates, or those new to private practice called “From Open to Booked:
An Ethical, Practical Guide to Finding Your First 10 Therapy Clients”.

✨Would this be useful to you? If so, comment “10” or respond to the poll.

As a therapist and supervisor of over 20 years, I remain committed to helping therapists find their ideal clients and achieve business success.

Thanks for the feedback!

I am deeply proud to have been part of the eight-part podcast series, Heritage of Hush, created by Wanda Williams-Bailey.

This project was not simply a podcast. It was an invitation to confront what many individuals and families have been taught to hide, minimize, deny, or carry alone.

Over eight episodes, we explored the impact of family secrets and generational silence—addressing paternal secrets, sexual abuse within families, substance use and addiction, domestic violence, and other painful realities that can shape how we see ourselves, relate to others, cope, parent, love, trust, and heal.

As a trauma-informed mental-health professional, I was honored to help name what silence often does to people. What goes unspoken does not disappear. It can live in the body. It can show up as anxiety, shame, hypervigilance, depression, people-pleasing, disconnection, relationship conflict, addiction, fear, and patterns we may not fully understand until we are willing to look more closely.

This clip is from the final episode, and hearing Wanda reflect on my contribution was deeply meaningful. I am grateful that my clinical voice, lived professional experience, and commitment to trauma healing could be part of this important body of work.

✨I’m excited to officially open my calendar for Fall 2026 speaking engagements.✨

Over the past year, my work has continued to evolve through writing, teaching, podcasting, and partnering with organizations to have honest conversations about mental health, leadership, resilience, and the human experience.

Whether I’m speaking to helping professionals, educators, leaders, or community organizations, my goal is always the same: to create practical, engaging conversations that leave people feeling informed, encouraged, and equipped with tools they can actually use.

If your organization, conference, university, school district, nonprofit, healthcare team, or faith community is planning programming this fall, I’d love to explore how I can support your audience.

Feel free to reach out to learn more about available topics, workshops, and speaking opportunities.

✨✍🏽There are moments you can’t script.

Episode 2 of Heritage of Hush became one of those moments.

As Wanda shared a deeply personal part of her family’s story, the weight of generations of silence, fear, and grief became very real. What unfolded wasn’t just a conversation—it became a space where truth could finally be spoken out loud.

As a mental health consultant, I often say that healing doesn’t begin because we have all the answers. It begins when we finally have a safe place to tell the truth.

It was an honor to hold that space for Wanda in such a vulnerable moment. I’m incredibly proud of her courage and willingness to let listeners witness what healing can actually look like.

If you’ve ever carried a family secret, experienced generational trauma, or wondered whether talking about it could really make a difference, I hope you’ll watch this episode.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is speak what we’ve been carrying in silence.

🎙️ Episode 2 of Heritage of Hush is available now on YouTube. The link is below. I hope you’ll watch, subscribe, and join the conversation.
