Relationships don't come with warning labels. But if they did, here's what some of the signs might look like.

Smartwatch — constant location tracking may cause a loss of privacy and pressure to always be reachable
Headphones — one-sided listening may cause feeling dismissed or talked over
Compass — only pointing in one direction may cause a narrowed world and loss of other relationships
Coffee — anxiety before every text may cause racing thoughts and constant phone-checking
Receipt — a running tab of what they've done for you may cause guilt and difficulty saying no
Camera — disregard for privacy and consent may cause photos or messages shared without permission

Not every unhealthy relationship looks the same. Sometimes it's pressure. Sometimes it's isolation. Sometimes it's walking on eggshells. Real relationships don't come with warning labels — that's exactly why the signs are worth learning.

The one label we'd want on every relationship? Trust, respect, communication, and consent. That's what True North contains.

Part of our Back-to-School Safety series. If any of this sounds familiar, we're here — 24/7, free, and confidential.

You don't need a script. You don't need to have all the answers. You just need to open the door.

As teens head back to school and into new social situations, one of the most powerful things a parent or trusted adult can do is simply create space for honest conversation — about relationships, about pressure, about what healthy actually feels like.

In this carousel, we're sharing:
Why these conversations matter — even when they feel awkward
Conversation starters that feel natural
Signs that something might be wrong
What teens actually need to hear from the adults in their lives

True North is here for families, not just in moments of crisis, but before they happen.

Every day, people in our community reach out to True North looking for safety, support, and a way forward. Behind every call, every night of shelter, every advocate, and every resource we provide is a community that makes this work possible.

Right now, that community support is needed.

We are experiencing a need for donations, and we are asking our community to show up alongside us. Your generosity helps us keep essential resources available for the people who turn to us during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

If you’ve ever wondered how you can support this work, this is one way you can make a meaningful difference right now.

Shop our Amazon Wish List to send items directly to True North (linked in bio).

Visit our website to view our Urgent Needs List and see what is currently needed.

No donation is too small. Every item, every gift, and every act of support helps us continue showing up for the people who need us.

We couldn’t do this work without our community.

A new school year brings new friendships, new routines, and sometimes new relationships. Whether you're a student, parent, educator, coach, or mentor — everyone has a role in building a safer school community.

Swipe through for what that looks like for you:
Parents & caregivers — the changes to watch for
Schools & educators — what to have ready before the year gets busy
Coaches, advisors & trusted adults — how your influence shapes what "normal" looks like
Columbia students — support that's closer than you think, at Mizzou, Columbia College, Stephens, or any local high school

This is part of our Back-to-School Safety series, all month long.

We're here when you need us — 24/7, free, and confidential.

Registration is officially open for the 2026 Men As Allies Breakfast, and we invite you to be part of the movement.

Creating a safer community starts with people who are willing to speak up, show up, and stand alongside survivors.

Through Men As Allies, True North empowers men to help prevent intimate partner violence and sexual violence by challenging harmful behaviors, holding one another accountable, and modeling healthy, respectful relationships. When men become allies, ending violence becomes a shared responsibility—not one survivors carry alone.

Whether you attend as a guest or serve as a Table Captain, your participation directly supports True North's mission to provide safety, shelter, education, and transitional support for those affected by violence.

Reserve your seat today.

A new school year brings a lot of things — new teachers, new routines, new friendships, and sometimes new challenges.

This month, we're kicking off our Back to School Safety series to make sure teens, parents, and families in our community have the information and support they need heading into the fall.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be covering:
Teen dating violence awareness
Navigating peer pressure and relationship boundaries
Resources for parents

You don't have to have all the answers. But knowing where to find them matters.
