The Department of Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences has appointed Taylor Otto as director of Radiography and Jeanine Treadway as director of Nuclear Medicine. The two faculty members will guide programs focused on preparing the next generation of imaging professionals

Thanks to all of the College of Health Sciences faculty and staff who helped incoming Mizzou students move into the Southwest Village on campus today. It was hot and slightly rainy at times, but all of our new Tigers (and their parents) appreciated the assistance as they got settled into their new homes.

Living with Parkinson's disease made it harder for Marty Kossak to stay active. Thanks to Neuro Bootcamp, a free program offered by Mizzou's Department of Physical Therapy, he found renewed motivation to exercise and work toward his health goals.

Let's hear it for Mahir, an outstanding alumnus of our Master of Public Health program! Through his work as a public health advisor with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Mahir works every single day to improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities.

Meet Mahir Khan, BS ‘13, MPA, MPH ‘16. Mahir is a Public Health Advisor for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. After volunteering for the Peace Corps in Botswana, it opened the door for a career in global health at USAID and CDC.

His best advice for new graduates is, "Get out there. Get as far out into the world as you possibly can, and then go farther. It is so important to get out of your comfort zone and experience hardship. Difficult experiences and exposure to different cultures cultivates humility and empathy, which are characteristics you’ll need to succeed professionally and personally no matter where life takes you."

Way to go, Mahir! 👏👏

Some more snaps from this week's Mizzou Health Sciences Camp, including sessions focused on Nuclear Medicine, Sport Science and the University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing Miller Family Simulation Center.

From labs and simulations to networking and career exploration, students gained plenty of hands-on experience about what it's like to pursue a future in health care — and also learned what it's like to be a Mizzou Tiger.

Please join us in congratulating Elizabeth Kelley on being named the Mizzou College of Health Sciences' new associate dean for graduate studies, effective Aug. 1.

Kelley will lead the interdisciplinary PhD in Health and Rehabilitation Science program and provide support for graduate and professional programs across the college. She will also collaborate with campus partners to advance graduate education at Mizzou.

The Mizzou College of Health Sciences is pleased to announce that Dana Martin has been named our inaugural associate dean for clinical education and services. She will assume the role starting Aug. 1.

With more than 20 years in physical therapy and clinical education, Martin has focused her career on strengthening connections between the classroom and patient care. She will lead efforts to expand clinical placements, deepen partnerships and elevate hands-on training across the college.
