Does anxiety in your life ever look less like panic and more like never being able to turn your mind off?

Anxiety does not always announce itself. Sometimes it looks like overthinking, carrying everyone else's burdens, trouble sleeping, or feeling like you always have to stay on.

One simple way to slow your mind and refocus your heart is a breath prayer, a short prayer you repeat as you breathe.

Try this:
๐ŸŒฟ Breathe in: "When I am afraid"
๐ŸŒฟ Breathe out: "I put my trust in you" (Psalm 56:3, NIV)

Or this:
๐ŸŒฟ Breathe in: "Be still"
๐ŸŒฟ Breathe out: "and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10, NIV)

As you breathe slowly, allow your body to settle while your heart remembers God's presence. Breath prayers do not erase life's challenges, but they can quiet the noise long enough for you to reconnect with the peace God offers.

Take a moment today to ask yourself what you are carrying that you need to place in God's hands. You do not have to carry it alone, and if the weight has become constant, we would love to help.

Has grief changed the landscape of your life in a way that is hard to explain to anyone else?

Maybe you have lost a loved one. Maybe a relationship ended, or a life transition arrived before you were ready, or you are carrying a quiet sorrow that very few people can see. Grief can leave you feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and alone. If that is where you are today, your feelings are valid, and you do not have to rush the healing process.

Psalm 34:18 (NIV) reminds us, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Even when God feels silent, He has not left you.

Comfort can arrive in several forms:
๐Ÿค Through His Word
๐Ÿค Through family, trusted friends, or a church community
๐Ÿค Through the compassionate care of a counselor who can walk alongside you

Asking for support is not a sign of weakness. It is often a courageous step toward healing.

May you give yourself permission to feel, to rest, and to hope. There is hope even in the midst of loss, and you are not alone.

Would you consider being part of someone's healing this year?

Behind every counseling session is a person who decided that today was the day they would stop carrying it alone. Your generosity helps make sure that when they reach out, someone is there.

Gifts to the Christian Counseling Center help support:
๐Ÿค Christ-centered counseling for individuals, couples, and families
๐Ÿค Access to care for those facing financial hardship
๐Ÿค The ongoing work of walking alongside people in grief, anxiety, and loss

Galatians 6:2 (NIV) says, "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

Thank you for prayerfully considering a gift. Your partnership makes this work possible.

What is one area of your life that you have been meaning to care for, and keep putting off?

National Wellness Month is less about a new routine and more about an honest look. Most of us can name the thing we have been ignoring. Sleep. A friendship we let go quiet. A grief we never processed. Time with God that got crowded out.
Consider this month:
๐ŸŒฟ One small change you can actually sustain
๐ŸŒฟ One conversation you have been avoiding
๐ŸŒฟ One rhythm of rest you can protect
๐ŸŒฟ One place where you need support instead of willpower

God cares about your whole well-being, not only your productivity. Caring for your mental and emotional health is part of stewarding what He has given you, not a distraction from it.

If you are not sure where to start, counseling can be a meaningful part of caring for yourself well. We would love to help.

"We stop trying to become when we realize that we already are." ๐Ÿ’™

As believers, that quote resonates deeply with us. What are we already? Already loved. Already saved. Already set free. Already forgiven. Already chosen. God doesn't need us to become anything because He already is everything we need.

Ephesians 2:4-5 (NIV) says, "But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions. It is by grace you have been saved."

It is so easy to get distracted in this world, trying to become a better parent, friend, employee, or spouse. The list goes on and on. What a beautiful reality that we don't have to strive to become anything in this world but can rest in knowing who we already are in Christ.

Sometimes we know the truth in our heads but struggle to feel it in our hearts. If that is where you are, counseling can help bridge that gap. Reach out at (803) 779-1995 or visit christiancounseling.ws. ๐Ÿ’™

Is happiness something you stumble into, or something you can actually pursue with intention?

Our Executive Director, Dr. Brian Mesimer, tackles that question in a new blog post, breaking down what research and Scripture reveal about the real conditions for a happy life. Stable relationships. Enough financial security. Meaningful work. A connection to something transcendent.

Dr. Mesimer unpacks each one with honesty and insight, showing how these aren't just modern psychology trends but truths the Bible has pointed to for centuries.

If you've ever wondered whether real happiness is even possible in a world full of stress and uncertainty, this post is worth your time.

When is the last time you actually rested instead of just collapsing at the end of the day?

International Self-Care Day is a good reminder that your well-being matters to God, not just your productivity. Mark 6:31 (NIV) shows us that even Jesus modeled this. He told His disciples, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." In Christ, self-care is transformed into something greater: a chance to spend time with your Creator.

If Jesus made space for rest, you have permission to as well.

Today, consider:
๐ŸŒฟ How can you create space to be with God this week?
๐ŸŒฟ Where do you need more quiet in your schedule?
๐ŸŒฟ Who could you reach out to for support instead of carrying something alone?

Self-care is not about escaping your responsibilities. It is about caring for the whole person God created you to be, so you can show up well for the life He has called you to.

If rest feels out of reach and you are not sure where to start, counseling can be a meaningful part of caring for yourself well. We would love to help. Reach out at (803) 779-1995 or visit christiancounseling.ws.

Have you ever had a verse that just keeps finding you?

You hear it in a song, see it in a social media post, read it in a book, and somehow it keeps showing up exactly when you need it. For us lately, that verse has been Luke 12:27.

"Consider how the wildflowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these." (NIV)

A few thoughts worth sitting with:
๐ŸŒผ God compares us to a wildflower, and then reminds us that our value goes even deeper than that
๐ŸŒผ This verse shows us something about God's eye for beauty. The Creator who designed every wildflower knows exactly how to clothe and care for His creation
๐ŸŒผ And most importantly, it reminds us that God will carry us through whatever season we are in right now

The circumstances may not change overnight. The uncertainty might still be there. But God's care for you has not gone anywhere.

If you're worried, exhausted, grieving, waiting, or simply unsure of what's next today, take a moment to look at a wildflower. It isn't striving to prove its worth. Itโ€™s simply growing under God's care. And you can too. If you are carrying worry or uncertainty and need someone to help you process it, we are here.
