Check out a few of our highlights from Camp Burnt Gin last week! What an amazing way to close out summer camp season for CAMP KEMO Programs.

It was a week full of arts and crafts, water fun, ice cream, friendship, and memories that will last a lifetime.

A huge thank you to our partners at the Department of Public Health for providing a week of summer camp for our kids with sickle cell disease and bleeding disorders. And of course, thank you to all of our donors and community supporters who make it all possible. 🌞💗🖤💛💙

July is Sarcoma Awareness Month. Sarcoma is a rare cancer accounting for 1% of all adult cancer and 21% of childhood cancers. There are two main types: tumors that form in bones, tumors that form in muscles, fat, nerves and other soft tissues.

Some of the most common sarcomas in pediatrics are rhabdomyosarcomas, osteosarcomas, and ewing's sarcomas.

Join us in spreading awareness throughout July. To learn more, visit curesarcoma.org. 💛

Camp Burnt Gin is here, and we couldn't be more excited to welcome our campers for another unforgettable week!

Each summer, CAMP KEMO Programs is proud to partner with Camp Burnt Gin through the South Carolina Department of Public Health to provide a weeklong overnight camp experience for children and teens living with sickle cell disease, hemophilia, and other blood/ bleeding disorders.

Camp Burnt Gin, located in Sumter County, gives campers the chance to build confidence, make lifelong friendships, and enjoy all the fun that summer camp has to offer in a safe and supportive environment.
From swimming, boating, fishing, arts and crafts, sports, games, and nature activities to the campers' favorite overnight camping trip under the stars, every activity is thoughtfully adapted so every child can participate and create lasting memories.

We are grateful for our continued partnership and for the opportunity to help make this incredible week possible. Here's to another amazing year of adventure, laughter, and unforgettable moments at Camp Burnt Gin! ❤️🤍

What a week at Camp CoAg! 🩸

This year marked the inaugural Camp CoAg, and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who helped turn this vision into a reality. In partnership with the Bleeding Disorder Association of South Carolina, we created a camp experience designed specifically for children and teens living with bleeding disorders—and their siblings.

In our first year, 35 incredible campers came together for a week filled with adventure, campfires, laughter, new friendships, and opportunities to build confidence while learning new skills. Every moment was a reminder of the resilience, strength, and joy that make this community so special.

To our campers, families, counselors, medical team, volunteers, and our partners at the Bleeding Disorder Association of South Carolina—thank you. Your dedication, encouragement, and support made the very first Camp CoAg possible, and we are incredibly proud of what we accomplished together.

This week was only the beginning. We look forward to growing Camp CoAg into a tradition that provides a place where every camper feels supported, empowered, connected, and free to simply be a kid.

Here’s to many more summers, lifelong friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime. 💙💛

Today is National Bereaved Parents Day. We hold in our hearts all the courageous parents who have experienced the unimaginable—the loss of a child to cancer or a blood or bleeding disorder.

Grief has no timeline. It becomes part of everyday life, woven into quiet moments, cherished memories, and a love that never fades. Today, and throughout Bereaved Parents Awareness Month, we honor your strength, your enduring love, and the unbreakable bond you will always share with your child.

Through CAMP KEMO Programs, we are honored to walk alongside families on their grief journey by offering comfort, connection, and a safe space to remember and celebrate the children who are deeply loved and missed. We offer a parent grief support group and a sibling grief camp. If you’re interested in either program and haven’t yet connected with us, we encourage you to reach out.

This month—and every month—we honor your grief, your courage, and your unwavering love. May you find comfort in knowing you are not alone, and that your child’s light continues to shine in the lives they touched and through the love you carry every day. 🤍

Happy Juneteenth & World Sickle Cell Awareness Day!

Sickle cell disease is the most common inherited blood disorders in the United States, and it primary affects black people.

Our clinic cares for nearly 600 children with sickle cell disease, with satellite clinics in Orangeburg and Florence.

In 2025, the Midlands opened the Sickle Cell Lifespan Center under the leadership of our very own Dr. Carla Roberts. This newly expanded, systemwide program was designed to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for patients with
sickle cell disease.

Join us in celebrating by spreading love & awareness! ❤️
