Wound Fact Wednesday 🩹👷‍♀️

Some jobs come with more than a paycheck… they come with cuts, scrapes, burns, punctures, and wounds.

From construction sites and commercial kitchens to warehouses, healthcare settings, delivery routes, and landscaping, certain occupations can put your skin through a lot.

But here’s what matters: the size of the injury doesn’t always predict the size of the problem.

🌦️ Wound Fact Wednesday: When the weather can’t make up its mind… your wound may notice too.

Hot one minute. Humid the next. Then suddenly pouring rain. Maryland weather has been all over the place lately. 😅

While changing weather itself doesn’t directly “infect” a wound, the conditions that come with it can make wound care more challenging.

💦 Heat + sweat can create excess moisture around dressings
🌧️ Rain and floodwater can expose open wounds to harmful bacteria
🌡️ Temperature extremes may affect circulation, especially in people with vascular disease or diabetes
🩹 Wet, loose, or contaminated dressings may leave a wound less protected

Your wound doesn’t need to weather the storm with you.

Keep dressings clean, dry, and secure—and watch for increasing redness, warmth, swelling, pain, odor, or drainage.
