Sometimes, the moments that remind you why you became a surgeon have nothing to do with the operating room. šŸ¤

A beautiful flower arrangement. A heartfelt card. And a patient who simply wanted to feel heard.

Our paths crossed at a time when she needed someone to listen, understand what she was going through, and help her find a path forward. I was honored to perform the surgery she needed, and even more grateful to see her recovering so wonderfully.

Being a surgeon is about so much more than performing procedures. It’s about listening, advocating, earning trust, and caring for the person behind the diagnosis.

I’m incredibly honored to care for patients like her and grateful every day for the opportunity to serve this community. šŸ¤

šŸ’° Already hit your deductible? Don’t let it go to waste.

It’s August (already?! 😳), and if you’ve met your deductible, now is a great time to take care of that hernia, gallbladder, lipoma, or other surgery you’ve been putting off.

The end of the year fills up fast, and trust me… nobody wants surgery to interfere with Thanksgiving or Christmas. šŸŽ„šŸ¦ƒ

✨ One Procedure. Better Care.

Patient care is always the priority.

I’m committed to bringing advanced, evidence-based techniques to our community that can help reduce the number of procedures, speed recovery, and make treatment as safe and efficient as possible.

Better care isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing what’s best for each patient.

Sometimes a ā€œthank youā€ hug doesn’t go exactly as planned… šŸ˜… Apparently my hand made a quick stop at her cheek first.

In all seriousness, I couldn’t do what I do without an incredible team. I trust our nurses completely, and they care for every patient with skill, compassion, and dedication.

If you’re one of my surgery patients, I hope you know that when you place your trust in me, you’re also placing your trust in an amazing team. Even when I’m not standing at your bedside every minute, I know you’re in excellent hands because I trust the nurses who care for you. They are a huge part of what makes great surgical care possible.

To all of our nurses: thank you for everything you do behind the scenes and at the bedside. Your hard work, kindness, and expertise make a difference every single day.

And to my patients: thank you for trusting us with your care. We never take that responsibility for granted. ā¤ļø

šŸ‹ļøā€ā™€ļø Surgery isn’t just about what happens in the operating room—it’s also about what you do before you ever get there.

This weekend I stepped outside the OR and into a CrossFit competition. Not because I’m trying to be the fittest person in the room, but because movement matters.

Whether it’s CrossFit, walking, swimming, cycling, or strength training, staying active can improve your health and help prepare your body if surgery is ever needed. Better fitness can mean a smoother recovery, fewer complications, and getting back to the life you enjoy sooner.

You don’t have to be an athlete. Just keep moving. Your future self—and your surgeon—will thank you.

šŸ’Ŗ Move today. Recover stronger tomorrow.

šŸ¤• Appendicitis? Here’s what to expect.

šŸ” In this video, I explain how a laparoscopic appendectomy is performed.

āœ… Most patients go home the same day or after one night.
šŸ’‰ If the appendix has ruptured, a short hospital stay is often needed for IV antibiotics.

Knowledge helps take the fear out of surgery. šŸ’™

One of my favorite parts of private practice? Every day is different.

Operating in Lawrenceburg this morning. Clinic this afternoon.

Being part of multiple communities means more access, more continuity, and more opportunities to take care of the people who trust us with their health. That’s exactly why I chose private practice.

šŸ© The ā€œDonut of Truthā€ strikes again.

When appendicitis is suspected, a CT scan is often one of the best tools we have to help confirm the diagnosis. It gives us a detailed look inside the abdomen, helping us identify an inflamed appendix while also ruling out other conditions that can mimic appendicitis.

Not every stomach ache needs surgery—but the right imaging helps us make the right decision at the right time.

šŸ‘Øā€āš•ļø Fun nickname. Serious technology. Life-saving information.

Have you ever heard a CT scanner called the ā€œDonut of Truthā€? šŸ©

šŸ” Ever heard of the ā€œhamburger signā€ for appendicitis?

When I explain appendicitis to patients, I sometimes use a hamburger as an example.

Imagine your appendix is the meat in the middle of a hamburger. When it becomes swollen and inflamed, it gets squeezed between surrounding tissues—just like a burger patty between two buns. As the pressure builds, blood flow decreases, the tissue can begin to die (necrosis), and if it’s not treated, the appendix can eventually rupture.

Appendicitis isn’t ā€œjust a stomach ache.ā€ Early evaluation and treatment can make a big difference.

If you have pain that starts near your belly button and moves to the lower right side—especially with nausea, vomiting, fever, or loss of appetite—don’t ignore it.

šŸ‘Øā€āš•ļø The sooner we diagnose it, the better the outcome.
