When a friend shares unexpected pregnancy news, she’s turning to you in a moment of vulnerability. As her friend, you want to care for her, but you may not know what to do next.

Start with listening, and remember that your presence is more important than finding the right words to say. Ask her what she needs right now and how you can support her today. Offer reassurance and let her know you're there to support her at her pace. Remind her she’s not alone — you’re with her.

When she’s ready, we can help her (and you) navigate this season. Our team is available in person, by phone, or by text. We’re here to help.

Schedule online at mylifeclinic.org/appointments or text 573-874-3561 to reach a nurse 24/7.

Why do I need an ultrasound? A positive home pregnancy test is an indicator of pregnancy, but it’s not a confirmation.

A pregnancy confirmation ultrasound can:
- confirm your pregnancy’s location
- estimate how far along you are
- check that it’s developing safely

Before scheduling an ultrasound, our nurse will give you a medical-grade pregnancy test. If your test is positive, a trained sonographer (RDMS) can perform an ultrasound to provide this information before you decide what to do next.

If you are considering your pregnancy options, a confirmation ultrasound can help you make an informed decision on your next steps. Your health and safety are our priority, and knowing how far along you are and ruling out an ectopic pregnancy are vital as you decide what’s next.

If you’re pregnant or think you might be, schedule an appointment with us today. We’re usually able to see you on the same day you reach out. Just have questions? Text or call 573-874-3561 to reach a nurse.

When should I take a pregnancy test?

At-home pregnancy tests look for a hormone called hCG, the very first hormone your body makes after conception. This hormone tells the rest of your body that you’re pregnant.

After implantation, hCG needs time to build up in your body. As more hCG builds up in your body, a pregnancy test will give more accurate results.

This is why timing matters. For the most accurate result, wait until the first day of your missed period to take a pregnancy test. This is when hCG levels are high enough to be detected.

At My Life Clinic, our pregnancy tests are administered by a nurse, so your result will be more reliable. You can talk with a nurse about your symptoms, date of your last menstrual cycle, and a possible conception date.

More information helps you gain clarity and decide your next steps with confidence.

Questions about abortion pills or procedures? You’re not alone. Many women wonder about the side effects of an abortion clinic procedure or how to tell if the abortion pill worked.

It’s important to know there’s a difference between a medical procedure and taking pills like Mifepristone and Misoprostol. While pills might seem simpler, they come with their own set of risks, side effects, and possible complications.

Before making any decisions, it’s a good idea to talk with a medical professional—especially if you’re on other medications, have health conditions, or need to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. A pregnancy confirmation ultrasound can confirm the location of the pregnancy, which is a critical first step.

We’re here to walk with you. Many women have questions about abortion, and it’s our priority that you receive medically-accurate information. While we don’t provide abortion or recommendations for abortion services, we are here to talk about it. If you’re considering abortion, we can provide education on abortion pills and in-clinic procedures—no pressure, just facts and support.

Located just a mile north of the Mizzou campus, we serve women in Columbia and Boone County, and our services are always free. Reach out with questions or to make an appointment by texting us at 573-874-3561.
