This Memorial Day, Maryhaven pauses with gratitude to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice reminds us of the freedoms we are able to carry forward, the communities we are able to build, and the responsibility we share to care for one another.

We also recognize that this day can carry deep grief for families, loved ones, veterans, and all those mourning someone who never came home. Loss like this can be heavy, and no one should have to carry it alone.

At Maryhaven, we are proud to provide resources and compassionate support for individuals and families navigating grief, mental health challenges, substance use, and the path toward healing.

Today, we remember, reflect, and honor those who served and never came home.

This Nurses Month, we’re celebrating the incredible nurses of Maryhaven with deep gratitude for the care, compassion, and expertise they bring to our clients every day.

During Nurses Week, our team was treated to Chick-fil-A and had the opportunity to learn from Mason Ziglar of Vivitrol about current trends, updated dosing, and how medication-assisted treatment can continue to support individuals in alcohol recovery.

From nursing leadership and purchasing to the nurses administering care directly to clients, this was a meaningful opportunity for our team to gather, learn, and continue strengthening the support we provide.

Moments like this reflect the heart of Maryhaven - honoring the people who care for our clients while continuing to invest in education, innovation, and interventions that create hope.

To our nurses: thank you for the work you do, the lives you touch, and the healing you help make possible every day.

Every gift helps sustain the treatment, counseling, case management, and wraparound support our clients need to restore their lives.

The conversation around sports betting, gambling legislation, and prevention continues to grow - and Abdullah Mahmood of Maryhaven is helping lead it.

In a recent episode of The Modern Meeting podcast, Abdullah joined the conversation to discuss the proposed Save Ohio Sports Act and the growing impact of mobile sports betting in Ohio.

The episode explores how the legislation could reshape gambling across the state, including restrictions on online betting, prop bets, parlays, and credit card use.

The podcast also takes a deeper look at what Abdullah is seeing firsthand through his work with clients at Maryhaven, the stages of change and recovery, and the emotional toll gambling can take on individuals and families.

As sports betting continues to expand, conversations like these are critical for raising awareness, reducing stigma, and helping people understand that support and recovery are possible.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, the Give Hope Campaign at Maryhaven is about supporting the people in our community who are working every day to rebuild their lives - and reminding them that hope is real, healing is possible, and they are not alone.

Our alumni clients often say the same thing in different ways: what made the biggest difference was feeling truly cared for. Darla shared that at Maryhaven, she found people who genuinely wanted to see her succeed.

Douglas speaks about how you can feel the compassion here - and how knowing people truly want to help can change everything.

Former client, author, and host of The One You Feed, Eric Zimmer, often talks about how essential hope was in his own recovery journey and how that sense of hope began at Maryhaven more than 30 years ago.

Those stories are why this work matters.

Your support helps provide treatment, mental health care, recovery support, transportation, meals, housing resources, and compassionate care for thousands of individuals and families across Central Ohio every year.

Donate during the month of May and your gift will be doubled.

This past month, Eric Zimmer joined our community at Grammercy Books for a powerful evening centered on recovery, resilience, and hope - values that sit at the heart of Mental Health Awareness Month and our Give Hope Campaign at Maryhaven.

As a former Maryhaven client celebrating more than 25 years in recovery, Eric’s story is a reminder that healing is possible and that even the smallest steps forward can change the course of a life.

Through his book, How a Little Becomes a Lot: The Art of Small Changes for a More Meaningful Life, and his continued partnership with Maryhaven, Eric is helping encourage conversations around mental health, addiction, and the importance of accessible care and support.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Maryhaven is raising funds to help sustain and expand the services we provide throughout the communities we serve.

Every day, our team works to ensure individuals and families have access to compassionate care, recovery support, and the resources they need to move forward - regardless of their circumstances.

In this video, Ron, a case manager at Maryhaven, shares a message that reflects the heart of our mission:

“We don’t turn anybody down. We want the whole community to get the help that they need and know that help is here and hope is found here.”

Ron speaks about the passion our team brings to this work every single day - helping people get their lives back on track and reminding them that restoration is possible.

The care, commitment, and compassion shown by Maryhaven staff cannot be measured. It changes lives every day.

“We’re going to give you the best care, and we’re passionate about helping you.”

You can help your community today, too. Your support helps ensure more individuals have access to treatment, mental health care, recovery resources, and hope when they need it most.

What an incredible day at the Cap City Half Marathon and 5K.

From Oyauma Garrison leading the way from the Start Line Stage alongside community dignitaries, to the runners, walkers, volunteers, donors, and sponsors who showed up to support Maryhaven, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who helped make this event so meaningful.

The energy throughout the day was inspiring and a powerful reminder that recovery, like a marathon, takes perseverance, community, and people willing to keep showing up for one another.

A special thank you to our generous sponsors: Buckeye Clinic Behavioral Health and Addiction Treatment Center, Phil Reck & Family, Oyauma Garrison & Rachel Lustig, National Alliance on Mental Illness of Franklin County, and The Delaveris Group.

Your support helped make Team Maryhaven’s presence at this year’s race possible.

Thank you to every participant, sponsor, donor, and volunteer who helped move our mission forward and support recovery across our community.

From start to finish - thank you for running with us.
