If you've never been to Founders' Day with a group of people in recovery, imagine trying to herd cats that keep stopping to hug each other.
That's basically the day.
Every ten feet:
"Hey! I know that guy!"
"I haven't seen her in years!"
"Can we stop for food?"
"Where's everybody at?"
"Wait, wasn't Wade just here?"
Meanwhile, staff is doing headcounts like we're chaperoning a middle school field trip.
But beneath all the chaos is something pretty incredible.
Watching people who once felt isolated, broken, ashamed, or alone walk through a crowd and realize they belong somewhere.
Watching them reconnect.
Laugh.
Share stories.
Celebrate recovery.
Days like today remind us that recovery isn't just about getting sober. It's about building a life worth showing up for.
