Yesterday, while getting a pedicure, my mind unexpectedly drifted to a kind woman who used to work at the salon and faced her own battle with thyroid cancer. And it's what took my Mama from me. 🕊️

Just as I was checking out, my nail technician received a phone call, clearly a little distracted. When she hung up, her face lit up with overwhelming relief and joy. It was her doctor she said, with results from her recent thyroid biopsy—it was BENIGN! No cancer! ,🙏🏻

I was so incredibly moved that she even thought to share this with me. I had no idea that she was going through this, only that I had thought about the lady from years ago that worked there. It was a clear, divine sign, a gentle nudge from my Mama, reminding us to always find the moments for gratitude and praise. I told her to take a break, stand in the sun, and soak in the goodness of God! 🙌

Honoring my Mama's memory means not only giving God all the glory for moments like these, but also using our voices to raise awareness. Thyroid cancer can be silent. It's important to stay proactive about your health. Listen to your body, and get your check-ups. The world needs you!!

Two years ago today, Charlie took his final breaths, but the bond we shared didn't end—it just changed form.

​About a week after he passed, he came to me one last time. I was still in bed and all of a sudden, he appeared He stood in the light, looking back over his shoulder as if that was what he was supposed to do, and I told him to go. That was the only time I've ever seen anyone actually cross over into the light.

It's fitting that my boy chose to show me that. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but it was the greatest act of love I could offer him.

​I am just realizing that today marks the two year anniversary of his passing after telling his story in a group that I'm in. And it feels like this was his way of checking in—a quiet reminder that love never really leaves us, and the spirits of those we cherish are always just a thought away.

​My sweet boy. You are loved, missed, and remembered always.

Growing up, this painted tin fruit plate hung at the bottom of the stairs at my Grandma’s house.

Every time I ran downstairs, there it was. For years, it was just part of the background of the place that felt like the center of my universe.

My Grandma was so much more to me than a grandmother—she was another Mama, my heart, my home. ❤️

Years later, after she moved into my aunt’s house, I was visiting her and spotted this same old plate tucked away in a bathroom cabinet.

I had been thinking about that plate and seeing it again instantly transported me straight back to childhood: coming down those stairs, the smell of fresh chocolate chip cookies, the hum of her sewing machine, and the quiet comfort of her sitting in her favorite rocking chair.

I asked, “Grandma, one day when you’re gone… can I have this plate?”
She didn’t hesitate. She insisted I take it right then.

For years, it hung inside my pantry—a secret treasure I’d smile at while cooking dinner. It’s funny how an object you once thought was so plain ends up holding your whole heart.

Grandma has been gone for almost 18 years now, and I still miss her every day. But today, I brought her plate out of hiding again. It’s going back on my wall, right where it belongs—a daily reminder of her warmth, her love, and home. ✨🏠
