Little bit of a late post. I’ve been struggling hard this last week after my client and friend missed out on her home birth. She was a rockstar while she labored at home for hours. She was in an immense amount of pain and exhausted. We decided it was best to transfer. Unfortunately mom ended up with an emergency c section. Mom and baby are both safe and healthy and for that I am thankful. I’m struggling because she is struggling with a very traumatic birth. I’m grieving the loss of her home birth with her. I’m so compassionate and empathetic with my clients. I am going through it right there with them. Midwifery is a job that requires you to have a big heart and to be compassionate and empathetic with the families you serve. I am so blessed with the purpose midwifery and birth work have given me.

🌸This week, the neural tube continues developing, on its way to becoming your little angels brain and spine.

🌸The placenta and umbilical cord are progressing to get oxygen and nutrients to your baby.

🌸Despite everything going on, your little angel is still remarkably tiny, just the size of a small apple seed.

🌸You may not have any pregnancy symptoms at 5 weeks pregnant, however it’s likely that you soon may begin to experience fatigue, spotting, breast tenderness, and even morning sickness at this stage.

🌸You might consider implementing some lifestyle changes at this point in your pregnancy, such as eating a healthier diet, avoiding certain foods, reducing stress, exercising more and, getting more sleep.

To all the mama’s nearing the end of their pregnancy, I know your going through all these big changes and emotions. You might be thinking to yourself that you are nervous about a whole human exiting your through this delicate little flower. You might be excited as you anxiously await your baby to join you. Words of advice from a mom of four and a midwife. Birth should feel peaceful you should be relaxed. Work on releasing your fears before your baby is born. Don’t fear the pain surrender to it. Know that the pain has a purpose. Remind yourself every surge that you are one less contraction away from meeting your baby. You’ve worked so hard these last 9 months growing this baby. You are capable, your baby is capable, and your body is capable to birth your baby. Give birth empowered and in peace. Enjoy your experience because today is a beautiful day to give birth fearlessly.

🌸13 Benefits of a water birth🌸

🌸Reduced desire for pain management.

🌸Shortened labor duration of labor as mom is relaxes her body does the work for her.

🌸Higher satisfaction is reported among moms who have water births.

🌸Warm water is soothing, comforting, relaxing, and it eases pain.

🌸In the later stages of labor, the water has been shown to increase the woman’s energy it gives the mother a break as she relaxing and she comes back with more energy.

🌸The buoyancy effect decreases the mother’s body weight, allowing more free movement and easier positioning. It helps take the extra weight off of moms hips and pelvis.

🌸Buoyancy promotes more efficient and effective uterine contractions. It also improves blood circulation resulting in better oxygenation to the uterine muscles, less pain for the mom, and more blood and oxygen for the baby.

🌸Immersion in water often helps lower high blood pressure caused by anxiety, stress, or pain.

🌸The water seems to reduce stress-related hormones, allowing the mother’s body to produce endorphins and oxytocin which serve as pain-inhibitors and helps labor progress.

🌸Water causes the perineum to become more relaxed and stretchy, reducing the severity of tearing or tearing at all. It reduces the need for an episiotomy and stitches.

🌸As the laboring woman relaxes physically, she is able to relax mentally and emotionally with an improved ability to focus on the birthing process.

🌸The water provides a sense of privacy, it can reduce doubts, anxiety, and fears.
The water provides an environment similar to the amniotic sac so it’s less traumatizing for baby as the transition earth side.
