Congratulations to Leigh Bain, RN, Emergency Department, for being voted Service First Champion for the Third Quarter 2026. A Baptist team member nominated leigh.
The nomination stated,” In times of dealing with a trauma or distress, Leigh does an incredible job of balancing ‘needing’ to get the job done and honoring the patient’s wishes and desires. She is thoughtful and caring to go out of her way to explain situations to patients.
“I have seen her go outside to help explain a situation to a family member who was angry and grieving. The family was thankful to have nurses go out of their way to help when emotions were high.
“Another scenario was during a horrible thunderstorm. An infant was expiring and Leigh helped allow the mother a chance to hold the baby during that time. She put herself in the mother’s shoes and offered loving acare that went above what was required of her. I watched her physically help when we had a drug overdose patient come into the lobby. She joined with the security team to get the patient safely to a trauma room.
The nominator added, “Leigh puts herself in the shoes of the patient and it changes the atmosphere of the room. She could stand back and watch or let others (do the work), but she quickly jumps in to help in the craziest of scenarios. And she does it with grace and she does in a way that most honors the patient. Leigh is kind and gracious. She is one tough cookie.
“I have watched her repetitively have incredible grace and mercy with families in the toughest places. She creates space for families to be able to experience emotions without judgment. When things get out of hand, she is the first to step in and help bring peace into chaos. I am thankful to be able to serve on a team with Leigh.”
Leigh is from Ethelsville, AL and a graduate of Beville State Community College in Fayette, AL in 2010. She joined the Baptist team in February 2022 and is currently one of the day shift Head Nurses in the Emergency Department.
Her family includes her boyfriend, a son, two daughters, a bonus son and one grandson. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, outdoor activities including pool time and riding ATVs. She is also a lieutenant in her local Volunteer Fire Department and First Responder.
“My favorite part of my job is getting to help patients and families in their time of need and teaching others through the experiences I’ve had as nurse.”
We congratulate Leigh on this honor and commend her for taking such good care of our patients!
