This time last year, I walked away.

👑I walked away from spaces that were psychologically unsafe for me as a Black woman.
👑I walked away from environments where I was mishandled, misunderstood, and where I just didn’t fit.
👑I walked away from the exhausting pressure to impress people who relentlessly chased an empty flex rooted in comparison, competition, and compromise.
👑I walked away from fear — and never turned back.

I made the life-changing decision to PROTECT 👑 MY 👑 CROWN 👑💜

And look at God — because a year later, THIS happened.🙌🏾

In addition to my private practice, Queenspace Counseling and Wellness, I’ve expanded the vision.

Alongside my sisters Lisa Hendrix and Rina Reid, we’ve birthed Soul Care Social — a space to connect, belong, and rise.

A space for those of us who’ve struggled to find our place, our people, our community — you’ll find it here.

Soul Care Social isn’t just a space — it’s a sanctuary. A beautifully crafted vibe designed by the creative brilliance of Generated By Excellence, the coldest renovation artists in Central Ohio (and beyond). They didn’t just renovate — they brought the vision to life.

👑Its also a sacred place dedicated to promoting the mental health and holistic wellness of Black women and girls. A place where we don’t have to shrink, "smile" to make others feel comfortable, code-switch, or wear the "strong" mask. Where we can just be — fully, freely, unapologetically.

👑It’s a space for healing, connection, and community — but also a hub for continuing education and transformative workshops for mental health professionals, community leaders, and change-makers.

👑A space where culture meets wellness, and where we rise, together.

👑And yes, it's a space that unapologetically champions Black culture. With intention. With boldness. With pride — no chaser.

For anyone who’s ever felt unseen or unheard, Soul Care Social welcomes you too. Come as you are. 💜

We’re here. We’re rising. And we’re not asking for permission.

Join us for our Community Open House:
Saturday, April 5th | 4:30pm - 6pm
1125 E. Main Street, Columbus, OH 43205 (Olde Towne East)

This is just the beginning.

If you come for my crown, you better not miss. 👍🏾👑 Because I’m just gonna keep rising.✨️☝🏽

Our New Year’s EVOLUTION 👏🏾🙌🏾🖤👑

Two years ago, Dr. Shekyra DeCree, founder and owner of Queenspace Counseling and Wellness envisioned a space where Black women could prioritize their wellness—mind, body, and spirit. Today, that dream is becoming a reality. In January 2025, Queenspace Wellness Studio will open in Olde Towne East Columbus, as an expansion of Queenspace Counseling and Wellness in Gahanna, OH. We are beyond excited to be a part of the vibrant culture and deep-rooted community of Olde Towne East Columbus.

Why this space?

👑Black women are disproportionately impacted by chronic stress, with research showing that stress-related health issues like hypertension and heart disease are more prevalent in our community.

👑Studies indicate that culturally affirming wellness spaces significantly improve mental health outcomes and foster resilience.

👑Data shows that Black women are less likely to feel safe and supported in traditional wellness and healthcare spaces, highlighting the need for affinity spaces.

Queenspace Wellness Studio is designed to meet those needs. While all people are welcome, this space will specialize in the unique holistic wellness needs of Black women, offering:

👑Fitness, mindfulness breathing
and yoga classes
👑Sister circles
👑Culturally inspired wellness
workshops
👑Continuing education initiatives,
and more...

This vision was born from Dr. DeCree's personal journey through spaces feeling unseen, dismissed, and excluded, along with hearing the voices of Black women and girls longing for culturally affirming spaces. These experiences inspired an effort to create a space that celebrates authenticity—a place where Black women feel empowered, supported, and truly connected.

Queenspace Wellness Studio will also be collaborating with Divine Impact Fitness to offer weekly dance fitness classes that celebrate joy and community.

Queenspace Wellness Studio is more than a space—it’s a movement. A space to pour into yourself, authentically and unapologetically.

This space is dedicated to every Black woman who has ever felt mishandled, unseen or out of place and seeks an environment where wellness, joy, affinity and belonging reign heavy. We see you and we’ve got you. 👑

PROTECT YOUR CROWN 👑

Stay tuned. The journey is just beginning. 🖤👑🙌🏾

At Queenspace Counseling and Wellness, we hear the struggle of Black women who yearn for connection and sisterhood where they feel seen, heard, and embraced. So many of our sisters express a deep sense of disconnection and long for a space where they can truly belong. They're tired of feeling like outsiders, weary of the cliques, and desire a community where they can show up as their authentic selves without judgment.

If this resonates with you, know that you are not alone. The Color Purple Collective study is a space designed just for you—a 7-session journey where the themes from The Color Purple (2023) movie will guide us into deeper healing, connection, and belonging. Here, you will join a cohort of powerful Black women, all committed to growing and supporting one another in a safe and nurturing environment.

This is your invitation to step into a circle of sisterhood, reclaim your space, and be part of something transformative. Space is limited, so don't wait. Visit the website, complete the survey, and secure your place in this journey today.
