THANK YOU 🙏🏾😊✨

Our hearts are STILL in overflow for all of the love we received last week in celebration of our inaugural Rooted & Rising Gala ✨

What a true honor to hear all the beautiful stories, testimonies and tributes to Black Women In Nature for all that we have been over the past 6 years and all that is to come!

We started with a simple intention. Helping Black women find relief and community during the COVID-19 pandemic. And here we are 6 years later having reached over 2500 women and their families through exploring the 21+ metro parks and trails in Columbus, OH and beyond.

The beautiful part about all of this, is that we are just getting started 😆.

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

We want to extend another BIG thank you to everyone who had a hand in making our inaugural gala happen!

Thank you to our sponsors:

It takes a community to grow a vision. 🌱🤎

As we prepare to gather for our inaugural Rooted & Rising Gala, we want to pause and extend our deepest gratitude to the sponsors and community partners helping make this celebration possible.

Your support is about more than one beautiful evening. It is an investment in the spaces Black Women in Nature continues to cultivate—spaces for Black women and our communities to rest, explore, heal, learn, connect, and experience joy in the outdoors.

Every partnership helps us deepen our roots and plant seeds for what comes next. 🌿

To each organization, business, creative, and individual who chose to believe in this vision: thank you for growing alongside us:

Meet the woman setting the vibe for our Rooted & Rising Gala🎶🌿✨

We’re excited to welcome DJ DON’T FRET as the DJ for our inaugural Rooted & Rising Gala!

A Columbus native and self-described “energy architect,” DJ DON’T FRET uses music to create joyful, healing spaces where folks can move, connect, release, and simply enjoy themselves. With thoughtfully curated sound and an instinct for reading the room, she believes music can do more than entertain—it can shift energy, build community, and create space for us to feel good, feel free, and have FUN.

And if you know Black Women in Nature, you know that’s right up our alley 🤎

So after we’ve shared stories, celebrated our community, and reflected on what we’re growing together, DJ DON’T FRET will help us take that joy straight to the dance floor 💃🏾

Come ready to connect, celebrate, release, and MOVE. We have a feeling sitting down might be difficult once she takes over 👀🎶

Rooted & Rising Gala style inspiration ✨

We love our hiking boots…but for one night, we’re trading in the trail gear and getting a little fancy 💃🏾✨🌿

For our inaugural Rooted & Rising Gala, the vibe is cocktail attire.

Think Elevated. Earthy. Elegant. And most importantly—authentically you.

We’re drawing inspiration from the beauty of fall and the natural world: rich greens, warm browns, rust, terracotta, gold, bronze, cream, plum and other earth-inspired hues. 🍂🌿

But consider this inspiration, not a requirement.

We want the room to reflect the same thing we love about nature—beauty, variety and plenty of room to show up exactly as you are.

We look forward to celebrating all that BWIN is and all that is to come!

✨Registration closes next Friday September 25th ✨

Meet the voice guiding us through an unforgettable evening ✨

We’re excited to welcome Caroline “Inspires” Bennett (CarolineINSPIRES) as the emcee for our inaugural Rooted & Rising Gala!

Caroline is a two-time TEDx speaker, youth development expert, cultural artist, poet, singer, and professional emcee whose work has reached more than 41,000 young people across 19 states. With more than a decade of experience in community and youth engagement, she has dedicated her work to helping young people discover who they are, recognize what they carry, and step fully into who they are capable of becoming.

At the heart of Caroline’s work is a commitment to being part of the village - and that spirit of community makers her a beautiful fit for Rooted & Rising Gala.

On October 1, Caroline will help guide us through an evening of celebration, storytelling, connection, and collective impact as we honor what has taken root though Black Women in Nature and plant seeds for what comes next.

We can’t wait to have her energy’s warmth and presence in the room.

Come celebrate with us ✨
