Dr. Yoga's Wellness Tips: Back Pain Edition! π§ββοΈ
Namaste, everyone, it's Dr. Yoga!
I've been dealing with back issues and scoliosis for quite some time. Along this journey, I've tried everything to help reduce my pain. Today, I want to share 3 easy practices that have helped me on my journey.
If you feel pain at any point doing any of these practices, please stop and listen to your body. Modify as needed. π
1. Cat-Cow. This is great for spinal flexion and extension. Kneel on the floor with your arms under your shoulders (use blocks or bolsters if that's uncomfortable), then flex your spine, moving your upper body forward and backward at a comfortable pace. This loosens stiff joints, warms up the spine, and helps improve posture.
2. Seated Spinal Twist β inhale as you sit up straight and lengthen your spine, then exhale as you rotate to one side as deep as you can without pain or strain. Repeat on the other side. This pose helps detoxify the spine and connect with your inner spirit.
3. Spinal Flexion β inhale with your arms in upward salute pose, then stretch side to side to release tension in your lower back.
Share this with a friend who could use some back pain relief, and comment below with what you'd like to see in next week's wellness tip!
