Dr. Yoga's Wellness Tips: Back Pain Edition! πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈ

Namaste, everyone, it's Dr. Yoga!

I've been dealing with back issues and scoliosis for quite some time. Along this journey, I've tried everything to help reduce my pain. Today, I want to share 3 easy practices that have helped me on my journey.

If you feel pain at any point doing any of these practices, please stop and listen to your body. Modify as needed. πŸ™

1. Cat-Cow. This is great for spinal flexion and extension. Kneel on the floor with your arms under your shoulders (use blocks or bolsters if that's uncomfortable), then flex your spine, moving your upper body forward and backward at a comfortable pace. This loosens stiff joints, warms up the spine, and helps improve posture.

2. Seated Spinal Twist β€” inhale as you sit up straight and lengthen your spine, then exhale as you rotate to one side as deep as you can without pain or strain. Repeat on the other side. This pose helps detoxify the spine and connect with your inner spirit.

3. Spinal Flexion β€” inhale with your arms in upward salute pose, then stretch side to side to release tension in your lower back.

Share this with a friend who could use some back pain relief, and comment below with what you'd like to see in next week's wellness tip!

πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈ Dr. Yoga's Wellness Tips 🌿

One of the most powerful yoga practices isn't a pose. It's your breath.

Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing) has been practiced for thousands of years to help restore balance between the body and mind. Nadi Shodhana has been used to calm the nervous system, reduce stress and anxiety, and help you feel better and heal better.

How to Practice:

1. Close your right nostril and inhale through the left.
2. Close both nostrils briefly.
3. Open the right nostril and exhale.
4. Inhale through the right.
5. Close both nostrils.
6. Exhale through the left.

🌿Before I begin, I like to apply my Respiratory Awakening Blend, handcrafted with eucalyptus, peppermint, rosemary, and other botanicals to create an uplifting aromatherapy experience that complements conscious breathing.

Interested in trying a bottle? Stop by the studio and experience the respiratory relief today.

Stay tuned for brand new wellness tips every Sunday only at Art of Yoga.

Dr Yoga's Wellness Tips πŸ§˜πŸΏβ€

Hey everyone, it's Dr. Yoga. I recently injured my knee, so today I wanted to share one of my favorite restorative yoga poses you can try at home. It's called Viparita Karani (Legs Up the Wall) πŸ¦΅β¬†οΈπŸ§±

This is a great pose if you have been on your feet all day, dealing with knee/lower body pain, and are feeling stressed and fatigued. Elevating your legs up against the wall improves blood flow and circulation in your lower body and helps everything reset.

Before you get started, listen to your body and make modifications if you have to.

If you liked this video, share it with a friend who could use the relief. πŸ«‚πŸ‘‡πŸ’Œ

A wellness tip from Dr. Yoga πŸ§˜πŸ™

Do you know about your lymphatic system? It's a network of vessels and organs that works alongside your circulatory system, and it relies entirely on movement to flow. When it's sluggish and sedentary, your body can get funky, and your skin may appear puffier, and you may experience fatigue.

Here at Art of Yoga, we recommend briefly warming up before class with light movement, stretching, or, if you're feeling adventurous, dancing to your favorite song. Once your lymphatic system is warmed up, you'll walk into class relaxed, refreshed, and mindful.
