Anticipatory Grief: Grieving Before a Loss

Grief can begin long before goodbye.

June’s Grief Care Session focuses on anticipatory grief—the emotions, stress, and changes that can arise when a loved one is still alive but a loss is expected.

Together, we’ll talk about:
-What anticipatory grief looks like
-How to cope with difficult emotions
-Staying present and connected
-Finding support for the journey ahead

You don’t have to navigate this alone. 💙

Our *NEW* monthly bereavement "Peer Support Group" is an open, supportive gathering for individuals coping with loss. The group meets once a month beginning Monday June 22nd, and is designed as a sharing‑based experience rather than a structured program.

Our Bereavement Specialist, Paula Neibert, will be present at each meeting to guide discussion and offer prompts, but the focus is on participant‑led conversation. Attendees may share as much or as little as they feel comfortable. There is no required curriculum, allowing each session to respond organically to the group’s needs. Free & Open to the Community, we hope you will join us in June.

Our Hospice of South Central Indiana is proud to announce Andres Miguel as the winner of the 40th Annual Our Hospice Concert Poster Contest. Andres is a senior C4 student in Mrs. Patricia Acton’s graphic design class at Columbus North High School, and his artwork will serve as the official poster for this year’s concert celebrating 40 years of community tradition.

“This year’s concert is especially meaningful as we celebrate 40 years of this community tradition returning to where it all began,” said Steph Cain, President of Our Hospice. “From the original concert on the library steps in 1987 to today, this event has always been about bringing people together in support of Our Hospice and the patients and loved ones we serve.”

The 40th Annual Our Hospice Concert will take place Saturday, September 5 at the Bartholomew County Public Library plaza in downtown Columbus, featuring 40 Years of College and 3 Beards Strummin’.
