Alliance for Substance Abuse Progress Changing lives through compassion, support, and education in Bartholomew County, IN

With an initial focus on opioids, ASAP is working to develop and implement a data-driven system focused on substance abuse prevention, early intervention, treatment, recovery, and enforcement that substantially reduces the prevalence of substance use disorder (SUD) in Bartholomew County and surrounding areas and helps those with SUD achieve recovery and become or return to being productive, contributing members of their communities.

ASAP Rethinking Wellness was launched in 2023 to begin asking what we can do to be a better community for preventing substance misuse.

Since then, we have partnered to provide education and awareness to hundreds of people on topics such as Stress Management, Reducing Stigma, Rethinking Pain, Prescription Medication Misuse, and Su***de Prevention. We set out to encourage local organizations to offer non-alcoholic beverages at events that promote cash bar services by offering options for those in our community to feel like they belong and who choose not to drink.

We are still going strong and we are building capacity because we believe the prevention of substance misuse is possible for everyone no matter the age!

We wanted to take a moment to thank all our community partners and their efforts to support this effort!!

💊 Drug Take Back Day is April 25th! 💊

Do you have unused or expired medications sitting in your home? Now is the perfect time to safely dispose of them and help keep our community safe.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Drug Take Back Day is a simple way to:

✔️ Prevent misuse and accidental poisoning
✔️ Reduce access to medications that could be diverted
✔️ Protect our environment from improper disposal

ASAP encourages everyone in Bartholomew County to take a few minutes to clean out your medicine cabinets and drop off medications at a safe disposal site.

👉 Find local drop-off locations and details here:

You can also take advantage of year-round disposal locations across Columbus—because safe habits shouldn’t just happen one day a year.
Together, we can take small steps that make a big impact. 💊✨
