This weekendâs floods have devastated our wider communityâand deeply shaken the hearts of many I care for.
Some Iâve come to know and support, have been directly impactedâmissing, grieving, or forever changed by what they endured in those rushing waters. Others are holding the trauma of watching their friends/family be rescued, searching for loved ones, or hearing unbearable news.
The pain is real. Itâs raw. And itâs shared.
As a therapist, and someone walking closely alongside families and children affected by this tragedy, I want to say this: your feelings are valid, your grief is allowed, and your body and heart may take time to feel safe again.
We are not meant to carry this kind of sorrow alone.
To my Zoeyâs Friends community:
đž You are not alone in your heartbreak.
đž We are here to support you.
đž And weâre holding this loss with you.
Therapists show up in hard momentsâbut we feel them too. We cry, we worry, we mourn. I see you. I feel this. And Iâm here.
If you or your child needs space to talk, breathe, or just be held emotionally right now, please reach out.
With heartbreak and care,
Haileigh & Zoey đ¤
