Bullying prevention starts with every single one of us. Every young person deserves an environment where they feel safe, included, and supported.

We can build a culture of kindness through simple, everyday actions:
▪️Listen with empathy
▪️Speak up when you witness bullying
▪️Include others in your group or activities
▪️Connect youth with a trusted adult when they need help

Small actions strengthen belonging and together, they make a lasting difference.

We’ll discuss:
- Simple steps to help keep medications and other substances out of children’s reach
- Ways to connect families with health and community supports
- Approaches that help keep parents and babies healthy, safe, and together
Together, we can create safer environments for Ohio’s youngest children and strengthen support for families.

Extracurricular activities can help young people build friendships, develop skills, stay active, and grow in confidence. But when school, activities, and social commitments leave little time for sleep, meals, homework, relationships, or downtime, it may be time to adjust the schedule.

Caregivers can support a healthy school-life balance by:

🔹 Considering how the full schedule affects daily life
🔹 Watching for changes in sleep, eating, schoolwork, or behavior
🔹 Creating a schedule together that includes responsibilities, relationships, rest, and free time

💬 Start the conversation: “What feels exciting, and what feels like too much?”

Small adjustments can help young people feel supported, stay connected, and thrive.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, a dedicated time to raise awareness and foster the safe, supportive environments every young person deserves. đź’™

Bullying can take many forms, including verbal bullying, physical bullying, social exclusion, and online harassment. Caring adults play a vital role in prevention by:

• Checking in regularly
• Modeling kindness and respect
• Encouraging empathy
• Reminding youth that they always have a safe person to talk to

Together, we can build stronger, more connected communities where every young person feels seen, valued, and supported.

There’s purpose in every blueprint—and in every conversation that helps build a healthier workplace. 🏗️✨

We’re excited to join The Builders Exchange of Central Ohio for their Q4 Well-Being Council meeting on Thursday, October 8.

Prevention Action Alliance’s Julianna Kleinsmith will lead the Risk, Reward & Addiction Workshop, creating a vital space for conversations about prevention, workplace wellness, and meaningful support within the construction industry.

By addressing risk, reducing stigma, and strengthening connections to care, we can help build safer teams, stronger workplaces, and brighter tomorrows.

Every investment in prevention is an investment in stronger families and healthier futures.

We’re grateful to the OneOhio Recovery Foundation Recovery Foundation for awarding Prevention Action Alliance $199,251.50 to launch the Resilient Families: Kinship Caregiver Support Program.

In partnership with PAXIS Institute Institute and Apportis this two-year initiative will equip kinship caregivers and family educators across seven Central Ohio counties with practical, evidence-based strategies and accessible digital resources. Together, we’re helping caregivers feel more confident and ensuring children have the stability and support they need to thrive.
