Who Were You Before You Were Edited?

“Remember what brought you joy before you learned to question it. There are pieces of who you truly are reflected in those memories—not because you are meant to return to who you were, but because you are being invited to remember what has always been true for you.” —The Akashic Records

There is a part of you that remembers who you were before the world had so many opinions about who you should be.

As children, we moved toward what delighted us without needing to understand why. We didn't ask whether it was productive or practical, whether we were good at it, or whether it might someday become useful.

We simply knew: I love this.

Then the world began to teach us what was important, practical, responsible, successful, and realistic.

The Records have often described these acquired beliefs and expectations as blankets placed over us throughout our lives. Some have served us well. Others were never ours to begin with.

But underneath all those blankets, you are still there.

So consider:

What lit you up before you needed a reason for it?

What could capture you so completely that you lost track of time?

What did you love before someone told you whether it was important?

And perhaps the simplest question of all:

What brings you joy simply because it does?

Reconnecting with your younger self isn't about going backward. It may simply be another way of remembering what has always been true for you.

Maybe it's time to pull back a blanket or two. 💜

Presence

The past couple of weeks have been a lot — a funeral, time with family, conversations, memories, laughter, sadness, and love. And now that I am home and life is returning to something that looks a little more normal, I realize I am tired.

My first instinct was to wonder what I needed to do about it. Did I need to rest? Clear the emotions and pain I am feeling? Spend time with my Records asking what I needed to understand?

And then I received this:
“Daughter, allow what you are experiencing to settle within you. It is enough to simply experience what you are experiencing. Be present with what is here and allow it to be.” — The Akashic Records

It made me realize how quickly we can move from experiencing something to trying to do something about the experience.

We want to understand. We want to feel better. We want to get back to normal. But what if we don't need to do any of that — at least not yet?

Sometimes our desire to understand ourselves can actually pull us away from simply being with ourselves. We become observers of our feelings instead of allowing ourselves to feel them.

Today, I don't need to clear what I am feeling. I don't need to understand it or turn it into a lesson.

I can let it settle and allow myself to feel whatever I feel.

And that is enough.

Clarity

“Hold the clarity that your actions and intentions extend far beyond what you are able to see. The feedback you receive is only a glimpse of the impact you are making in the world.” —The Akashic Records

We often recognize our impact through the feedback we receive. Someone tells us that something we said helped them. A student shares how something they learned changed the way they approached an experience. Someone tells us that something we created was exactly what they needed.

Those moments are wonderful—but they only show us what makes its way back to us.

There is so much more happening that we will never hear about.

Something we share may influence a choice someone makes months or even years later. Something we teach may become part of the way someone else teaches, leads, creates, or uses their own gifts. And what changes within that person may then become part of what they offer someone else.

Our awareness of our impact has limits. Our impact does not.

That is particularly important to remember when we question whether what we have to offer is significant enough to share.

The Akashic Records remind us that our part is simply to offer what is ours to offer. We don't have to know how far it will travel, whose life it may touch, or what may happen because we chose to share it.

The feedback we receive is a beautiful glimpse into something much larger.

What gift are you holding back because you aren't sure its impact will be big enough?

Purpose

“You ask us to help you identify your purpose. We ask you to first look within yourself. What do you love? What are you passionate about? What calls to you? What do you enjoy? What do you want to experience and create?

As you make choices that reflect who you truly are, you will begin to recognize your purpose.” — The Akashic Records

One question people frequently ask the Akashic Records is, “What is my purpose?”

We tend to believe there is one answer somewhere that we simply haven't figured out yet.

What if the pressure we feel around finding our purpose isn't because we haven't found it yet, but because we've been taught to think about purpose in a way that isn't true?

When we ask about purpose, the Records turn our attention back to who we are: What are you passionate about? What do you want to do? What are you curious about? What do you enjoy?

We often dismiss the answers because they don't seem significant enough. Our purpose does not have to be grand to be meaningful.

When we follow what interests us, one experience leads to another. One choice opens the possibility for another.

Our experiences can also become part of our purpose. They give us stories, lessons, and insights to share. Sometimes the greatest gift we can offer another person is hope: I made it through this. You can, too.

As we understand more about who we are, our choices can better reflect who we truly are. This is alignment. Within that alignment, our purpose becomes easier to recognize.

Purpose isn't something we find. It's something we recognize as it unfolds through the life we create.

What if your purpose isn't something you still need to find, but something your life is already showing you?

Wonder

"Wonder is an invitation to move through life with open eyes and an open heart—to notice the meaningful moments, the magic, and quiet signs that remind us life is often richer than we realize." — The Akashic Records

When most of us think of wonder, we think of the moments that leave us speechless. We think of sunsets painted across the sky, mountains rising in the distance, waves crashing against the shore, waterfalls, fields of wildflowers, and skies filled with stars.

Yet wonder is not reserved for life's grandest moments.

The beauty, mystery, and magnificence that inspire wonder are all around us.

They are found in the tiny seed that pushes its way through the soil, in the butterfly emerging from its chrysalis, in the changing of the seasons, in the intricate patterns of snowflakes and seashells, in children's laughter, in the loyalty of a beloved pet, and in the fragrance of flowers after the rain.

They are found in acts of kindness, in resilience, in love, in beauty, in creativity, and in the simple reality that, against impossible odds, we are here at all.

The problem is not that there is too little wonder in our lives.

The problem is that we have become so accustomed to miracles that we have begun thinking of them as ordinary.

We have forgotten to notice them.

The world has not become less remarkable.

We have simply become accustomed to its magnificence.

Yet the magic remains.

What fills you with wonder?

Midweek Message

I absolutely love it when I come across a message from another source that parallels what I receive from the Records. When I read this, I felt called to pass it along because it so closely reflects what the Records have shared with me.

So many people have told me that they feel confused, discouraged, and deeply concerned about what is happening in the world. They don't understand why these things are happening, and many simply want to shut down or turn away from it altogether.

Yet the Records have consistently reminded us—and Chardon's message beautifully echoes—that this is not the time to withdraw our light. It is precisely the time when our hearts, our choices, and our energy matter most.

To me, this message beautifully captures the tension many people seem to be experiencing: the pull between what has been and what is trying to emerge. I believe it also helps explain much of what we are witnessing in the world around us.

The following message is from a collective called Chardon, channeled by Mary Jo Burkhard. Much thanks to Chardon and Mary Jo for bringing this message forward:

"There is a great desire in your world, and in many individually, to return to your past instead of going forward. For some, it is the idyllic past of memories, where much is remembered nostalgically. It seemed perfect to those who were sleepwalking through life. For others, there is the illusion that returning to the past will allow them to regain greater power and control...

Freedom

Freedom is one of those words we all believe we understand—until we begin asking what is keeping us from feeling it.

When we think about freedom, we often imagine external circumstances. We think about having enough money, enough time, or enough independence to do what we want.

While those things certainly create opportunities, the deepest form of freedom has very little to do with our circumstances.

What if, instead, freedom is about what you're carrying?

Authenticity

“Every time you choose honesty over approval or what is true for you over what is expected, you move closer to living as the person you've been all along.”
— The Akashic Records

Have you ever noticed how often life asks us to choose between being accepted and being authentic?

It might be deciding whether to say what we really think or simply agree to keep the peace. It might be saying yes when we really want to say no, or choosing the path everyone expects instead of the one that quietly feels true.

We believe that our authentic self is something we need to discover—as though our true self has somehow been lost along the way.

The Records have shown me a different way to look at it.

Divine Empowerment - The Gift of Choice

"Wisdom does not seek to make your choices for you. It illuminates what is possible and lovingly waits for your response. Your freedom to choose is not an obstacle to your journey—it is part of the journey." – The Akashic Records

Last week, we explored ways we can recognize wisdom. Unlike fear, wisdom does not pressure, shame, or demand. It quietly invites us toward what is true for us.

Why?

Why don’t the Records simply tell us what to do? Why don't our guides move us where we are "supposed" to go?

Many of us secretly hope that spiritual guidance will work that way. We wait for the unmistakable sign, the perfect opportunity, or the moment when life finally makes the decision for us. We imagine that if we are truly connected to Divine guidance, somehow the right path will become so obvious that we cannot miss it.

But what if that has never been the purpose of wisdom?

Wisdom

"Wisdom is not something you acquire. It is something you learn to recognize. It has always been present within you, quietly waiting beneath fear, expectation, and the opinions of others. The invitation is not to become wiser. The invitation is to trust the wisdom that already knows." – The Akashic Records

We often wonder how to know whether what we are hearing is truly wisdom.

We assume wisdom will arrive with certainty, unmistakable and beyond question. Yet wisdom rarely announces itself in this way.

Fear speaks urgently. It tells us to act now or not at all. It imagines what might go wrong and asks us to protect ourselves before we have even discovered whether protection is needed.

The ego speaks loudly. It measures, compares, defends, and seeks approval. It is concerned with image, recognition, success, and the opinions of others, and is far more interested in being validated than in discovering what is true.

The voices of the world are plentiful. They offer advice, opinions, expectations, and rules for how life should be lived. Some are offered with great love. Others arise from fear or misunderstanding. Regardless of their intention, they cannot know what is true for our soul.

Wisdom speaks differently.

Wisdom does not argue. It does not shame. It does not pressure. It does not demand certainty before the next step is taken.

Instead, wisdom quietly invites.

It invites us to become curious.

It invites us to pause before reacting.

It invites us to notice what brings peace, expansion, and quiet knowing, even when our minds are still asking questions.
