The Butterfly Guild is thrilled to announce our guest director for our 2027 production of My Fair Lady, David Hemsley Caldwell.

David began his professional career working in casting for NBC Television, Broadway and film. Mr. Caldwell was Producing Artistic Director for Totem Pole Playhouse, The Gretna Timbers Theater and the Dixie Theatre Foundation and has directed over 100 productions in New York, Los Angeles and regionally. David has also served as a visiting artist and adjunct professor for Otterbein University and the Peter Sargent Conservatory Theatre Arts at Webster University. Mr. Caldwell is honored to be partnering with the Butterfly Guild on such an iconic production.

Butterfly Guild's 69th production, My Fair Lady, will take the stage at the Southern Theatre April 2–4, 2027!

After eight years directing Butterfly Guild productions, David Bahgat is stepping away from behind the table for a season and returning to the stage as Professor Henry Higgins.

"I'm thrilled to return to my first love, performing. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of appearing in Butterfly Guild productions, and the opportunity to play this role for an organization that has meant so much to me is truly special. Knowing that the work also supports Nationwide Children's Hospital makes the experience even more meaningful."

As Higgins might say, David has "grown accustomed" to directing these productions, but we're excited to see him in the spotlight next year!
