As we enter Memorial Day weekend, you can help us honor the patriots who helped make America possible.

The deadline to submit information for the Revolutionary War Veterans Graves Project is at the end of Memorial Day on May 25, 2026.

This statewide effort is working to identify, document and map the final resting places of Revolutionary War patriots buried in Ohio — preserving their stories for future generations as we approach America’s 250th anniversary.

If you have visited a cemetery, researched a veteran, submitted a grave marker, or helped document this important history, thank you. Your work is helping ensure these patriots are remembered.

There is still time to participate.

Submit your information, explore the live results dashboard, or learn how to get involved here:

May we remember them. May we honor them. May we carry their stories forward. 🇺🇸

We had all day yesterday to get a couple of things done before we attended the Warren County First Families ceremony.

We took the time to locate the parcel of David Flin’s land in Warren County. I fully expected it to be a Walmart but it is still, for the most part, farmland and several nicer homes. (And shoutout to my Mum! Township/Section/Range mapping is enough to drive me to drink. But she’s a wonder at this stuff and muscled through transcription, locations, and filled out our application like a champ! 💪)

Then we stopped off to try out the Greenhouse Cafe, in Lebanon’s Mulberry Plaza. We had their Chicken Apple Brie sandwich - local chicken with housemade fig jam, apples, brie, roasted garlic aioli, and arugula on a ciabaua roll.
Ok - yum! 🤤

Then ventured over to Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian cemetery to take a quick photo of John Woolley’s headstone for America250-Ohio’s Rev War patriot database. (John being the husband of one of David Flin’s elder daughters, Martha Flinn Woolley.) We had told ourselves we were not going to clean headstones and get dirty before the WCGS ceremony. But his stone was covered in lichen and barely legible - we couldn’t let that slide. So we were out in the rain, brush in hand, cleaning. 😜

From there we made it to the ceremony in just enough time to enjoy a social hour with other members and inductees, and caught up with some friends we hadn’t seen in over a year. WCGS served a lovely meal, followed by cake, and we received our certificates. The evening ended with a (as always) wonderful presentation by Dana Palmer.

Back to normal life today. Once I get a free moment, I’ll post information about David’s land.

Congratulations to David Flin’s descendants far and wide! 🎉

Tonight we were inducted into the Warren County (Ohio) First Families in honor of David Flinn who settled in the area of Turtlecreek Township, 1797.

First Families are shown in the Warren County Genealogical Society records. These people have been thoroughly researched by a descendant of the listed ancestor which proves their relationship to the individual and documentation that shows the indicated pioneer ancestor was in Warren County, Ohio, before January 1, 1821.

I often joke that a criminal would leave great records. 🫢🫣🤣
