☀️ How to Protect Your Skin This Summer: 4 Common Skin Problems and How to Feel Better

Summer means more time outdoors—but it can also bring a few unwelcome skin issues. Knowing what to look for and how to protect yourself can help you enjoy the season safely.

🌿 Poison Ivy
Watch for itchy red rashes, swelling, and bumps after outdoor activities. Wear protective clothing, clean tools regularly, and avoid touching unfamiliar plants.

🦟 Mosquito Bites
Mosquitoes can leave behind itchy, swollen bumps and may carry illnesses. Reduce your risk by using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves, and eliminating standing water around your home.

☀️ Sunburn
Too much sun can damage your skin and increase your risk of skin cancer. Protect yourself with sunscreen, protective clothing, shade, and regular hydration.

🔥 Heat Rash
Hot, humid weather can block sweat ducts and cause itchy, irritated skin. Stay cool, wear lightweight clothing, and keep skin dry when possible.

🏥 Feeling Nervous About a Doctor's Appointment? You're Not Alone.
Many people experience anxiety before a medical visit—whether it's discussing symptoms, undergoing tests, or worrying about what they might hear. The good news is that a little preparation can help you feel more confident and in control.

📝 Before your appointment, consider making a list of:
• Symptoms or concerns you'd like to discuss
• Questions about medications or treatments
• Health goals you're working toward
• Any changes you've noticed in your physical or mental well-being

Starting with your most important questions can help ensure you leave with the information and support you need. Remember: your healthcare provider is there to help, not judge. Taking an active role in your care can lead to better outcomes and greater peace of mind.

🧩 Understanding Behavioral Therapy for Kids
Every child experiences challenges as they grow—but sometimes they need extra support to develop healthy ways of thinking, feeling, and responding to the world around them.

Behavioral therapy helps children identify unhelpful thought patterns, manage emotions, and build positive coping skills. Through evidence-based techniques, therapists work with children and families to replace challenging behaviors with healthier, more effective responses.

Behavioral therapy can help children:
⭐ Build emotional regulation skills
⭐ Reduce impulsive or disruptive behaviors
⭐ Improve problem-solving and coping strategies
⭐ Strengthen social and communication skills
⭐ Develop confidence and resilience

There are several types of behavioral therapy, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Each approach is tailored to meet a child's unique needs and goals.

Supporting a child's mental health early can provide lifelong tools for success, helping them thrive at home, in school, and in their relationships. Go to: http://spr.ly/6187BEpPOS to learn more

☀️ Heat Exhaustion vs. Heatstroke: Know the Difference
As temperatures rise, it's important to recognize when heat-related illness becomes a medical emergency.

Heat exhaustion can develop after prolonged exposure to high temperatures and dehydration. Symptoms may include heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, nausea, headache, muscle cramps, and fatigue. While serious, heat exhaustion can often improve with rest, hydration, and cooling measures.
However, if symptoms worsen or do not improve within 30 minutes, heat exhaustion can progress into heatstroke — a life-threatening condition that requires immediate medical attention.

🚨 Warning Signs of Heatstroke:
• Body temperature above 103°F
• Hot, flushed, or very sweaty skin
• Rapid pulse
• Confusion, disorientation, or slurred speech
• Loss of consciousness
• Seizures

If someone is showing signs of heatstroke:
✅ Call 911 immediately
✅ Move them to a cool, shaded area
✅ Remove excess clothing
✅ Use cold water, ice packs, or cooling methods to lower body temperature
❌ Do not give medication such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen for heat-related illness
Heatstroke can cause permanent organ damage, disability, and even death if not treated quickly.

At Optum Behavioral Care, we know that physical health and mental health are deeply connected. Extreme heat can impact mood, increase stress, worsen existing mental health conditions, and place additional strain on the body. Click here to learn more: http://spr.ly/6188BD0mFk

Your mornings don’t have to feel rushed or exhausting — a simple routine can help you start the day feeling your best. ☀️💭

Even small habits can make a big difference. In fact, research shows it can take time to build routines — but consistency is what helps them stick.

Try starting with a few simple shifts:
🌙 Prep the night before
Lay out clothes, plan breakfast or pack your lunch to make mornings smoother.
💡 Get natural light early
Sunlight helps wake up your brain, boost mood and improve alertness.
🚶 Move your body
A short walk or gentle stretch can reduce stress and increase energy for the day ahead.
🧠 Keep it simple and consistent

You don’t need a perfect routine — just one that works for you.
A good morning routine isn’t about doing more — it’s about setting yourself up to feel more balanced, focused and ready for the day. ✨

Keeping an open mind isn’t always easy — but it can change how you see the world. 💭

Being open to different perspectives can help you learn, grow and better understand people — even when you don’t agree.

Here are a few ways to start:
🧠 Acknowledge your biases
We all have them. Noticing your automatic reactions is the first step to challenging them.
💭 Reflect on your beliefs
Ask yourself where your views come from — and stay open to the idea that they can evolve.
🌍 Seek new experiences
Step outside your comfort zone. Talk to new people, explore different cultures and expose yourself to new ideas.
👂 Listen to understand
Instead of preparing a response, focus on truly hearing the other person’s perspective.

Open-mindedness isn’t about changing who you are — it’s about staying curious and willing to grow. ✨ Seeking additional help? http://spr.ly/6185BDuqKW

ADHD doesn’t just show up in school — it can impact your workday, too. 💭
About 10 million adults live with ADHD, and many experience challenges in the workplace — not because they’re not capable, but because most environments aren’t built for neurodiverse ways of thinking.

At work, ADHD might look like:
🧠 Difficulty focusing or staying on task
⏰ Struggling with time management or deadlines
🗂 Feeling disorganized or forgetting details
🔁 Putting off tasks or getting bored easily
⚡ Feeling restless or easily overwhelmed
💬 Interrupting or having trouble in conversations

These aren’t character flaws — they’re differences in how the brain processes information.

With the right support, tools and understanding, people with ADHD can thrive at work. 🤝 Find support here: http://spr.ly/6185BD1qLt

Growth starts when we’re open to seeing things differently. 💭
This worksheet is an invitation to explore new perspectives — from the languages you hear, to the food you try, to the places and experiences you seek out.

Expanding your perspective can help you:
🌍 Build empathy and understanding
🧠 Challenge your assumptions
✨ Discover new interests and experiences
🤝 Connect more deeply with others

Start small — try something new, stay curious and see where it leads.
Sometimes, the biggest growth comes from stepping outside what’s familiar. 🌿

Difficult conversations don’t have to turn into arguments. 💭
With the right approach, they can become opportunities to understand, connect and grow.

Here are a few ways to keep conversations thoughtful and productive:
🧘 Stay calm and open-minded
Going in with curiosity instead of defensiveness can change the tone entirely.
🧠 Know the difference between facts and opinions
Take a moment to reflect on where your beliefs come from — and stay open to others’ perspectives.
❓ Ask open-ended questions
Give space for deeper conversations instead of quick, surface-level responses.
👂 Listen to understand, not just respond
Focus on truly hearing the other person before jumping in.
🤝 Look for shared values
Even when opinions differ, there’s often common ground.
⏸️ Take a break if needed
It’s okay to step away and come back when you’re feeling more grounded.

Conversations don’t have to be about “winning” — they can be about learning. ✨
