What if we stopped treating the first trimester like something that has to be hidden?
In this clip from my conversation with a local pregnancy + postpartum mental health therapist, we talk about the idea of sharing pregnancy news earlier—if and when it feels right for you.
There can be so much pressure to “wait until it’s safe” to tell people. But waiting doesn’t protect us from the heartbreak of loss—and sometimes, it can mean experiencing those early weeks quietly, without fully sharing the excitement, hope, and joy with the people we love.
Sharing earlier can also mean that if a loss does occur, the people around you already know. You don’t have to first explain that you were pregnant before you can explain that you’re grieving. You have a support system that can show up for you.
There is no right time to share a pregnancy. Some people want privacy. Others want their people beside them from the very beginning. Both are okay.
With Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day approaching, I hope we continue creating more space to talk openly about pregnancy, joy, grief, and loss—because no one should feel like they have to navigate any of it alone.
🕯️ On October 15th, Core Pelvic Health and The Wellness Womb will be hosting a small candle-lighting ceremony in honor of pregnancies and babies gone too soon. We’ll gather for gentle movement, breath, remembrance, and togetherness.
This clip is only a small piece of our conversation. 🤍
