“Nurse staffing levels at East Liverpool City Hospital are critically short, putting patient safety and nurses’ licenses at risk. Not only has the hospital refused to listen to nurses’ suggestions for ways to address these shortages, they are also refusing to commit to a reasonable bargaining schedule. Our contract expires on July 21, and we have only one confirmed meeting date between the union and the hospital. The hospital and Prime continue to make clear their lack of commitment to both patient safety and nurses’ working conditions.”

The union's contract expires on July 21, 2026, and there is one confirmed meeting date between the union and the hospital before that time.

Because nurse working conditions = patient healing conditions. ❤️‍🩹

The union focused contract negotiations on the issues their members identified as priorities: workplace safety, patient care, and working conditions that will help the hospital retain and recruit qualified nurses.

Congratulations to the Metro Behavioral Health Nurses Union! 🎉

Cleveland City Council recently adopted an ordinance strengthening city laws that protect nurses and health professionals from violence.

ONA President Rick Lucas talked with Fox 8 News's Jennifer Jordan about the workplace violence nurses and health professionals face all too often.

Violence is not part of the job.
Safety isn't optional.

Inside Cleveland’s hospitals and on the streets with EMS crews, violence is no longer a rare occurrence.
