Meet Annie! She has worked closely with young adults, kids, teens, and families, and is passionate about engaging with the LGBTQIA+ community. It's important to Annie to provide a safe and fun space for clients to explore their values and identity as they build confidence through self-understanding and change.

Annie is a Capricorn and proud q***r person who recently moved with her fiancé to Ann Arbor, MI from Columbus. They live with their dog, Sammie, and cat, Albert. You can usually catch Annie exploring new food or planning her next concert (especially anything gay pop or alternative indie), playing bass guitar, or listening to the Wicked soundtrack.

Meet Lil! They're a Master's-level counseling intern on track to graduate from Saybrook University.

Their goal is to help you find and embrace your strengths, successfully navigate distressing emotions, and guide you towards self-acceptance and growth.

Outside of work, Lil enjoys spending time with their spouse and cats, cooking, and reading/wathcing all things creepy. They are passionate about connecting with their q***r community, social justice activism, and loves to express themselves through tattoos and colorful/bold fashion.

Amy Nims (she/her) is a clinical mental health counselor and counselor supervisor here at City. She has worked in community mental health and private practice for 18+ years, with the last 15 years entrenched in child welfare and community systems work.

Amy is trained in Bruce Perry’s The Neurosequential Network Model of Therapeutics and loves to geek out about brains. Her specialties include couples work, LGBTQ+/Ally support and parenting, navigating Child Welfare and systems, impact of trauma and generational trauma, and young adult life transitions.

Outside of work, Amy enjoys time with her wife, doggos, friends, and family. She is always up for a game and making questionably bad crafts or baked goods. She is unapologetically into Romantasies, swims to keep her head clear, and loves nature so long as it’s not too hot, cold, or buggy. Amy strongly believes in the power of perspective, community, and humor.

At City Counseling: A Home for Growth, we are deeply invested in creating a space that feels welcoming and safe for all. Some of our areas of focus include supporting LGBTQ+ folks, survivors of trauma, HIV/AIDS, seniors, addiction issues, and couples.

Dr. Ryan Rose (he/they) identifies as a gay, temporarily able-bodied, cis male. They use their experience in multiple areas of psychological theory to tailor approaches and interventions that will best fit your therapeutic needs. He finds that a collaborative and integrative approach allows therapy to reach you where you are in your own healing and therapeutic journey. Specifically, Ryan focuses on collaborating with you to find your therapeutic voice, foster interpersonal independence, build self-esteem, and create an environment for your own self-concept to grow and develop. As a clinician, they integrate Rogerian, Interpersonal, Family Systems, Psychodynamic, Existential/Humanistic, and Multicultural approaches.

During their postdoctoral education, Ryan found City Counseling and connected with our dedication to diverse and minority populations, in particular the LGBTQIAAPP2+ community. Ryan specializes in individual, couples, and group work and identifies as a generalist/integrative therapist in the practice.
