Mission in Motion continues.

This week, we journey to Nigeria, where Dominican Sisters answered the call to serve through education, healthcare, and evangelization.

Through stories from our archives, we'll reflect on the Sisters who helped build communities of faith and service, and the enduring legacy carried on today by the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena, Gusau.

Every mission starts with someone willing to say yes.

On July 24, 1956, Dominican missionaries set sail for Nigeria to serve the people of what would become the Diocese of Sokoto. Soon afterward, Dominican Sisters joined the mission, bringing education, healthcare, and the Gospel to communities across northern Nigeria.

Churches, schools, dispensaries, and hospitals took root in places like Gusau, Yauri, Funtua, and Malumfashi, creating opportunities where few had existed before.

What began with a handful of missionaries became a foundation of faith, service, and partnership that continues to shape lives today.

This is where the Nigeria mission began.

The heart of Jeff Koch’s reflection is a longing to truly see—to behold the face of Christ and be filled with the glory of God. Drawing from Isaiah’s promise that God’s word never returns empty, Jeff invites us to recognize Jesus himself as that living Word, accomplishing the Father’s will and opening our eyes and ears to the reality of God’s kingdom. His meditation reminds us that through Christ—and through the Spirit who continues his work—we are given the grace to see, hear, and understand the life God desires for us.

What a warm welcome for our Sisters Betty, Celeste, Judith and Loretta! The teams at Signature Aviation and Silver Air Private Jets made the trip smooth and comfortable, and the rescue professionals at the Columbus Division of Fire offered compassionate and respectful assistance to our Sisters. Once they got to Mohun, our Sisters were welcomed with heartfelt hugs and a joyful reception!

Please join us in warmly welcoming Srs. Celeste Albers, Judith Lindell, Loretta Podlena, and Betty Werner to Columbus! ❤️

The sisters arrived safely this morning after flying from Great Bend on a chartered plane (Silver Air Private Jets) made possible through the generosity of a grant from SOAR! (Support Our Aging Religious).

We are grateful for a safe journey and look forward to welcoming them to their new home at Mohun Health Care Center . Please keep them in your prayers as they begin this new chapter in their journey.

What a wonderful day of adventure and friendship!
Today, our residents and staff enjoyed a beautiful outing to Ash Cave, where we took in the breathtaking scenery, fresh air, and the joy of spending time together. After our walk, we gathered for a delicious lunch at The Olde Dutch Restaurant to relax and share stories from the day.
A special congratulations goes to one of our amazing sisters, who completed the entire walk through Ash Cave! In recognition of her determination and adventurous spirit, she was happily crowned "Her Magesty of the Hollow " for the day.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this outing so memorable. We’re already looking forward to our next adventure!

Today, June 5th, the employees of Mohun Health Care Center stand in unity with the Dominican Sisters of Peace in recognition of Gun Violence Awareness Day.

Today, we wear orange to honor the lives that have been lost, support those whose lives have been forever changed by violence, and raise awareness for peace in our communities.

We reaffirm our commitment to peace, compassion, dignity, and community. May we continue to work toward a world where every person feels safe, valued, and heard. Together, we choose peace. 🧡

And so, our Journey Through Joy comes to a magnificent close… but at Mohun, the journey continues.

As Skilled Nursing Care Week 2026 draws to an end, we reflect on a week filled with laughter, creativity, friendship, and unforgettable memories. Under this year’s theme, Moments in Bloom: A Journey Through Joy, our residents and staff traveled together through enchanting worlds and shared extraordinary experiences.

🌼 We danced back through the decades in our "No Place to Wear
It" Fashion Couture Theatre.
🎬 We stepped into timeless portraits at Mohun Mills Studio,
inspired by Olan Mills.
🍨 We enjoyed sweet treats at The Cherry on Top Ice Cream
Shoppe.
🏰 We reveled at the Grand Faire of Mohunshire.
🎲 We sipped and laughed at the Bloom Bloom Room Casino and
French Riviera Café.
🌸 We ended the week in full color with our Flower Power Finale,
celebrating peace, love, music, and the vibrant spirit that keeps
our community blooming.
📸 And we captured countless moments of connection,
imagination, and joy.

Each day reminded us that joy is not found in grand gestures alone, but in the simple moments we share—smiles across the table, stories among friends, and the magic of being together.

To our incredible residents: thank you for bringing your warmth, humor, and adventurous spirit to every event.

To our dedicated staff: thank you for the love, creativity, and heart you pour into making Mohun a place where life continues to bloom.

Though this special week has ended, the spirit behind it remains.

The Journey Through Joy continues at Mohun Health Care Center.

Because here at Mohun, every day offers an opportunity to experience life in new and exciting ways.

Bienvenue au Café de la Riviera Française et au Casino Bloom Bloom Room !

Aujourd'hui, au Mohun Health Care Center, nos résidents ont été transportés sur les rivages glamour de la Riviera française pour un après-midi rempli de délicieuses gourmandises, de rires et d'un peu de chance !

Nos invités ont profité de l'atmosphère raffinée du Café de la Riviera Française, où ils ont dégusté des boissons rafraîchissantes et de délicieux desserts inspirés par le charme de la Côte d’Azur.

Puis, il était temps de tenter leur chance au Casino Bloom Bloom Room ! Nos résidents ont mis leurs talents à l’épreuve au Black Jack, à la Roulette, au High-Lo, au Prize Drop et à la Roue des Prix, tout en remportant de merveilleux cadeaux et en partageant de nombreux sourires.

La salle était en pleine floraison de joie, de compétition amicale et de souvenirs inoubliables dans le cadre du thème 2026 de la National Skilled Nursing Care Week, Moments in Bloom.

Un grand merci à notre personnel extraordinaire et à nos bénévoles qui ont contribué à créer cette expérience magique pour nos résidents. La Riviera se trouve peut-être à des milliers de kilomètres, mais aujourd’hui, son esprit de soleil, d’élégance et de célébration brillait ici même, au Mohun Health Care Center !
