Greetings & Salutations! Welcome to wild, wonderful, whacked-out Wednesday. Today’s lectionary reading is Psalm 126. This is a joyful little psalm of praise. As you sit with this little psalm I encourage you to take stock of all the wonderful things the Lord has done and is doing for you. Take a pen and paper to make the list then put it where you will see it on a daily basis. This will help grow your faith. Blessings to you. Thank you for letting me share. De Colores, Leanette

Greetings & Salutations! Welcome to terrific, tantalizing Tuesday. Today’s lectionary reading is Isaiah 43. The Bible is often considered God’s love letter and Isaiah 43 is a prime example of this idea. When you sit with this chapter, I invite you to insert your own name in the place of Jacob or Israel. This will make this Scripture sound as if God is speaking to you. Many of you have said to me “Leanette, I want to hear God speak to me.” Well, He uses his word to do exactly that. So, quiet your heart still your mind and read this chapter with your heart, mind, eyes and ears turned and tuned to the Lord. He will tell you of His love for you and He will tell you the truth of yourself. May you hear the Lord’s voice today. Blessings to you. Thank you for letting me share. De Colores, Leanette PS I realize today is Tuesday but this reading was so wonderful I could not let it pass.

Greetings & Salutations! Welcome to terrific, tantalizing Tuesday. Today’s lectionary reading is Joshua 5. You might be wondering what in the world this has to do with Lent. They have left Egypt and wandered in the wilderness. Now it is time to stop wandering in the wilderness and go into the Promised land. It is time to stop eating manna and begin eating the crops of the land. Circumcision was a way of committing to and participating in the covenant of being God’s people. This was a way of saying “No more being slaves. Now we live as children of God.” A significant part of Lent is about examining our hearts and confessing our sin but another significant part of Lent is putting that aside and going forward joyfully toward grace and redemption of Easter. Easter is the Promised Land we are about to enter. When we do this we will meet God just as Joshua did. Blessings to you. Thank you for letting me share. De Colores, Leanette

Greetings & Salutations! Welcome to terrific, tantalizing Tuesday. Today’s lectionary reading is Jeremiah 2. What I like about this chapter is it gives us God’s perspective. Sometimes we just need to look at ourselves from our Maker’s point of view. Judah is in trouble because of turning to Assyria and Egypt for treaties and alliances rather than trusting in the Lord to be their strength. Verse 13 is very telling: We abandon God and we try to do for ourselves what we ought not do. We pride ourselves on being independent but the reality is each and everyone of us lives on God’s blessing. We all want to go to Heaven but we do not actually want to give ourselves over to God in order to get there. My prayer for you during this year is that you will not trade our glorious God for the sin in your life. May God give you eyes to see the idols you have established and the strength to throw them down. Blessings to you. Thank you for letting me share. De Colores, Leanette

Greetings & Salutations! Welcome to marvelous, magnificent Monday. Today’s lectionary reading is Jeremiah 1. We have the call of Jeremiah the prophet. I like to read these passages to see how God called these vastly different men who lived in very different times to the same task of proclaiming and prophesying the word of the Lord. I like to look at the responses of these men. Many of them are reluctant and fearful at first. There is something about being in the presence of God that makes us want to run and hide. But God knows us far better than we know ourselves. He has known us far longer than we have known ourselves. He has made plans and has a purpose for each of us. When we lean into His plans and purpose we will know His strength. Blessings to you. Thank you for letting me share. De Colores, Leanette

Greetings & Salutations! Welcome to wild, wonderful, whacked out Wednesday. Today’s lectionary reading is Psalm 19. This psalm is such a beautiful and exuberant prayer! Just sit with it and change a few of the pronouns and you will pray a prayer of praise over the creations and especially the sun which warns these cold winter days. When you finish praising the Lord for His creation it moves into praising Him for His laws and instructions. It closes with confession. Blessings to you. Thank you for letting me share. Greetings & Salutations! Welcome to terrific, tantalizing Tuesday. Today’s lectionary reading is Nehemiah 8. We have the exiles coming home to Israel from Babylon. Israel is in ruins but these people get about the work of rebuilding the walls, the Temple, their homes and their lives. Sometimes in the midst of all the work we forget what is important. These folks had almost forgotten the Word of the Lord. It had been lost to them but Ezra found it and reminded them. Certainly there is a time to grieve our sins and our losses but not today. According to Ezra & Nehemiah this was a day to celebrate because the Word of the Lord was found, the Word of the Lord was proclaimed and the Word of the Lord was understood!!! May it be so for you today. Blessings to you. Thank you for letting me share. De Colores, Leanette

Greetings & Salutations! Welcome to thrilling, thriving Thursday. Today’s lectionary reading is Luke 3:15-17, 21-22. This coming Sunday we celebrate the baptism of the Lord and we remember our own baptisms. Most of us joke about the techniques and timings of baptisms in different denominations. Sprinkling vs dunking. Infant vs. older child/adult. The truth is all baptisms are biblical. How much water and where is really of very little importance. I went to Israel and stood in the Jordan. I have baptized confirmands in the Flint River. Both events were equally wonderful. What matters with baptism, no matter who you are or in which church you worship is that God draws us to make a conscious public commitment to Him. He gives us a place with Him and we live our lives as His children bring Him great joy! Blessings to you. Thank you for letting me share. De Colores, Leanette

Greetings & Salutations! Welcome to terrific, tantalizing Tuesday. Today’s lectionary reading is Isaiah 43. The lectionary emphasizes only the first 7 verses of this chapter but it is so rich and wonderful I encourage you to read it all. I take great comfort and confidence from the Lord knowing my name. I do not have the easiest of names but even more than that - God tells me I am His. I have a place with Him. Things like that make me want to go forward fearlessly. Come down to verse 4 and hear God sing of His love for me and for you. I do not even begin to understand what it means to be made for the glory of God but I want to take this year to find out. I want that to be the new thing God does with me. Blessings to you. Thank you for letting me share. De Colores, Leanette

Greetings & Salutations! Welcome to thrilling, thriving Thursday. Today’s lectionary reading is Matthew 2. In preparing for Epiphany Sunday we leave Luke and John to go to Matthew. The move is abrupt. We go from shepherds to Wise Men, from a stable to a palace, from poverty to wealth, from angels to dreams, from Mary’s song to Rachel’s wailing. 3 things we can take from this story: 1) the wise Men are a reminder that Christ comes for the whole world, not just Israel, 2) Jesus is the true king of Israel and 3) not everybody likes Jesus. The Gospel has its enemies. The church is in the world to shine His light and proclaim His truth. May we who call ourselves His disciples shine brightly and speak boldly. Thank you for letting me share. De Colores & Merry Christmas, Leanette

Greetings & Salutations! Welcome to a new year and a marvelous, magnificent Monday. Today’s lectionary reading is Isaiah 60. We read and prepare ourselves this week for Epiphany Sunday. I think I like this chapter so much because it ties in so well with John 1. We talked about it yesterday in church. Epiphany is about the coming of the light and John tell us that Jesus is that light. Isaiah says it a little differently by saying that the light is the glory of God. Isaiah tells us that this glory rises upon and shines upon us. He tells us that there will come a time when we will no longer need the sun or the moon because the Lord our God will be our light. If we go back to chapter 9 we will find that this light has come to those of who walked in darkness. My prayer for you is that 2022 will be a time of coming out of darkness into the marvelous light of God!!! Thank you for letting me share. De Colores & Merry Christmas, Leanette
