As we wrap up National Su***de Prevention Month, we want everyone to remember; you are not alone.

Each year millions are impacted by su***de, yet far too many suffer in silence. Su***de Prevention is not just a month, week, or day. It is a reminder to keep raising awareness and reducing the stigma around mental health. Su***de Prevention cannot be the responsibility of one person alone. It is within the conversations we have, the stigma we challenge, the people we check in on, and the communities we create.

When you start a conversation with someone who may be struggling with their mental health or thoughts of su***de, and when you offer support, you are providing hope to those that need it most. Whether you are navigating your own struggles, supporting someone close to you, or simply want to make a difference, your voice matters.

If you or someone you know if struggling, help is available. If there is immediate danger, call 911. Call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline for free, confidential support 24/7. Colusa County Behavioral Health offers 24/7 crisis support by calling 530-458-0520. If you would like to start Behavioral Health services we offer intakes on Tuesdays from 1:00pm to 2:30pm and Thursdays from 8:00am to 9:30am. We are located at 162 E. Carson Street in Colusa.

💜 September 10 is World Su***de Prevention Day. 🩵

Today, we honor and remember those we’ve lost to su***de, support those who are struggling, and stand with those carrying the grief of loss.

Remember & remind others:

💜 You matter.
🩵 You are not alone.
💜 Your story is not over.
🩵 Asking for help is a sign of strength.

Please check on your people. Make the call. Send the text. Sit and listen. You don’t need the perfect words, sometimes simply being there can mean everything.

You never know how much someone may need to hear, “I’m here. You don’t have to go through this alone.”

Let’s break the silence, challenge the stigma, and create a world where people feel safe asking for help.

If you are struggling or know someone who is, please reach out to Colusa County Behavioral Health at 530-458-0520, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We are located at 162 E. Carson St., Colusa. We offer 24/7 Crisis Services by calling 1-888-793-6580.

You can also call or text 988 for mental health struggles, emotional distress, or if you just need someone to talk to. The 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7.

💜 You are not alone. 🩵

***dePreventionDay

🩵 No estás solo/a.

HERE ARE 5 STEPS YOU CAN TAKE TO HELP SOMEONE WHO IS HAVING THOUGHTS OF SU***DE:
1. ASK: “Are you thinking about su***de?” It’s not an easy question to ask, but it can help start a conversation. Studies show that asking people if they are suicidal does not increase suicidal behavior or thoughts.
2. BE THERE: Listening without judgment is key to learning what the person is thinking and feeling. Research suggests acknowledging and talking about su***de may reduce suicidal thoughts.
3. HELP KEEP THEM SAFE: Reducing access to highly lethal items or places can help prevent su***de. Asking the person if they have a plan and making lethal means less available or less deadly can help the person stay safe when suicidal thoughts arise.
4. HELP THEM CONNECT: Connecting the person with the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) and other community resources can give them a safety net when they need it. You can also help them reach out to a trusted family member, friend, spiritual advisor, or mental health professional.
5. FOLLOW UP: Staying in touch with the person after they have experienced a crisis or been discharged from care can make a difference. Studies show that supportive, ongoing contact can play an important role in su***de prevention.

AQUÍ TIENE 5 PASOS QUE PUEDE SEGUIR PARA AYUDAR A ALGUIEN QUE TIENE PENSAMIENTOS SUICIDAS:
