Naturopathic Cancer Support: Prevention, Detection, Treatment

Everything is poison and nothing is poison... This old saying is hard to comprehend when we're talking about or . But it all depends on the dosage of a substance. Drinking too much water can kill a person and likewise, a small amount of a toxic chemical like cyanide can be used as medicine.

Not only does the dose matter, but who we're putting that substance into; what’s their constitution & what are they taking along with it?

After all, in we treat people, not .

When someone receives a they're overwhelmed by all kinds of emotions. The last thing anyone wants to do is figure things out themselves. They've heard terrible stories about standard protocols to . Yet the in front of them is saying that's their only option, the best thing available. So, what's the deal?

“We use treatments that make sense; we extend life & bring about better outcomes than what would have been, period.”

Cue naturopathic medicine: there's many ways to treat a patient & none of those ways ONLY involve taking a chemotherapeutic agent. We know from studies & clinical evidence that would be a crazy thing to do.

Chemotherapy alone is harmful to the body. Of course it is, that's why we use it to treat cancer! But we have ways to protect a person’s healthy cells WHILE allowing chemotherapy, radiation & immunotherapy to kill cancer cells. Using protocols, herbs & vitamins at the right times & proper dosages + , we have a system to keep the body healthy while going through standard cancer treatment.

are used to help the body stay strong during treatment & help the chemo work better to kill cancer cells, hinder drug resistance & stop the progress of cancer stem cells! This last part is great because cancer stem cell survival is the reason it comes back so deadly if it ever returns from remission. Making sure we kill those pesky guys is an important goal for a life.

Managing the Brain/Gut axis is a necessary clinical tool that is missing from most psychiatry practices. With all the research available, this is something I hope to see change within the next decade. But until then, we will keep offering them at our clinics, and promoting literature to anyone that will listen.

This new study shows intermittent fasting causes positive effects on both the brain and microbiome. Although they did not find an understanding of how the markers were correlated in this particular study.

We know that fasting causes positive metabolic changes, and gives the body a break to focus on regeneration. We also know that improvements in microbiome diversity cause a decrease of bacterial and inflammatory leakage to the blood stream, which decreases inflammation in the brain. This gets to the root of the problem, and decreases symptoms of depression and anxiety. In fact, scientists have recently found that the most popular antidepressant drugs in the world, SSRIs, most likely work by decreasing inflammation in the brain, and not because they increase serotonin in the synaptic cleft.
