Question: When should I schedule my child’s first orthodontic appointment?

Answer: It’s earlier than most parents think: Around age seven, per guidance from the American Association of Orthodontists (and recommended by Bluebird Orthodontics!).

By seven, children typically have a mix of baby teeth and permanent teeth. Orthodontists like Dr. Dorie Frank can use this window to evaluate how your child’s jaws are growing, and bite is developing – and identify concerns before they become complex issues.

During an early orthodontic evaluation, Dr. Frank can:
• Spot crowding or spacing issues
• Detect bite problems like overbites, underbites, and crossbites
• Monitor jaw growth and facial development
• Reduce the likelihood of more extensive treatment later in life
