Happy World Breastfeeding Week!

This week, we celebrate all the amazing mommas who have nourished their babies with love.

To the mommas who breastfed, pumped, combination fed, donated breastmilk to another family, or received donor milk for their baby, your love and dedication matter.

To the mommas who wanted to breastfeed but couldn't, or whose journey looked different than they had hoped, you are seen too. Your worth has never been measured by how your baby was fed. What matters most is that your baby was loved, cared for, and nourished.

As a doula, my heart is to support mommas with evidence based education, compassionate care, and encouragement without judgment. Every feeding journey is unique, and every momma deserves to feel supported in reaching the goals that are right for her and her baby.

Here's to celebrating every momma, every journey, and every act of love that helps a baby grow.

Birth has a beautiful way of reminding us that we can prepare for many things, but we cannot control everything.
As doulas, we spend months helping families create birth preferences, build confidence, and prepare for one of life's biggest moments. But sometimes, in an instant, those plans change.
When they do, my role changes too.
Sometimes that means stepping aside so the medical team can do what only they are trained to do. Stepping back does not mean stepping away. It means trusting the hands that are caring for mom and baby while I continue caring for the hearts of the people experiencing it.
It means helping families navigate the unexpected. It means holding space for disappointment, fear, confusion, or grief when a birth unfolds differently than they imagined. It means reminding them that every emotion they are feeling is valid and worthy of being heard, without judgment or criticism.
Sometimes it means looking at a dad whose eyes are searching the room for reassurance and offering a calm nod that says, "You are not alone. They are taking care of her. Take one breath at a time."
Not every act of support is loud or visible.
Sometimes it is quiet. Sometimes it is simply being a steady presence when everything else feels uncertain.
That is part of the privilege of being a doula. Not to control the outcome, but to walk alongside families through every twist and turn, making sure they never have to face those moments alone. 💜

I am more than a bag sitting by the door.
I carry whispered prayers, comforting tools, snacks for the long hours. Bits of encouragement for the hard moments, and everything my doula might need to pour into another family.
My pockets have been checked, stocked, and checked again because when the call comes, there is no hesitation. We go!
I've been there, sitting quietly in the corner of labor rooms while courage rose with every contraction, hands reached for one another, tears of relief were shed, and the first cries of new life filled the room.
Every time I'm picked up, I know we're about to step into someone's once in a lifetime story.
Every time I'm placed on my doula's shoulder, I know my job is to help her do hers. I carry the little things so she can focus on the big things. I carry the tools. She carries the calm. Together, we answer the call to walk beside mothers and families during one of the most beautiful moments they will ever experience.
Until the next text. Until the next phone call. Until the next baby decides it's time...
I'll be right here by the door, packed, ready, and waiting.

As a doula, I have the honor of witnessing women become mothers in the most raw, powerful, beautiful moments of life.
I have seen the strength in trembling hands, the love in exhausted eyes, and the deep bond that begins long before a baby takes their first breath.
To every mother, whether your journey was joyful, heartbreaking, healing, unexpected, or hard fought, you are incredible.
Thank you for trusting your bodies, your babies, and your stories.

👼💐 🫶This is a doula whisper from my heart to yours 🤍
I am a mama in many ways… an adoptive mom, a biological mom, and a mama of miscarriages. Babies I carried in my womb, even if only for a short time, but loved for a lifetime.
Today, I honor every mother who has walked this path, no matter what your journey looks like. Whether your arms are full, your arms are empty, or you carry both grief and gratitude side by side… you are still a mama.
Your love counts. Your babies count. Your story matters.
As a doula, and as a bereavement doula, I hold space for you. I see you. I honor you. And I am here to support you, always.
Today is a day to honor yourself… to gently remember… and to hold your motherhood close to your heart.
