"I can't work with a Naturopathic Doctor because I'm taking medication."
A recent conversation reminded me just how common this misconception is.
Someone shared that they were hesitant to schedule with me because they assumed naturopathic medicine meant taking herbs that might interact with their medications.
Honestly, I completely understood where that concern came from.
The reality is that naturopathic medicine is so much more than herbs and supplements.
When I work with a client, I'm looking at the whole picture, not just one piece of it. That includes your medications, medical history, lab work, nutrition, lifestyle, symptoms, and your personal health goals. Every recommendation is made with safety and your unique situation in mind.
Sometimes herbs are part of the plan. Sometimes they aren't.
Some of the biggest breakthroughs come from improving nutrition, optimizing sleep, balancing blood sugar, supporting digestion, reducing stress, or taking a deeper look at what your lab work is telling us.
Herbs can absolutely be a valuable tool, but they're just one tool in a much larger toolbox.
My goal isn't to replace your current healthcare. It's to thoughtfully complement it while helping uncover the root causes contributing to your symptoms.
If you've ever wondered whether a naturopathic or functional medicine approach could fit alongside the care you're already receiving, I'd love to have that conversation. 🌿
💚 Save this post for someone who thinks taking medication means they can't benefit from naturopathic care.
