💙 Happy CNA Week! 💙

This week, we proudly celebrate our Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and the incredible care they provide every day.

CNAs are often the first smiling face a patient sees and the helping hands that provide comfort, dignity, and support during some of life's most challenging moments. Their compassion, dedication, and commitment to exceptional patient care make a lasting difference in the lives of our patients, residents, and families.

Thank you to all of our CNAs for the essential role you play on our healthcare team. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and we are grateful for everything you do to care for our community.

⚠️ Ride Smart, Ride Safe ⚠️

E-bikes and e-scooters are becoming a popular way to travel, but injuries are rising just as quickly. Recent studies show that emergency department visits related to e-scooter and e-bike injuries have increased dramatically, with e-scooter and e-bike injury visits tripling between 2019 and 2022. Common injuries include broken bones, head injuries, cuts, and facial trauma.

Before you ride, remember these safety tips:

🪖 Wear a properly fitted helmet every ride.
🚦 Follow traffic laws and signals.
👀 Stay alert and watch for pedestrians, vehicles, and road hazards.
📱 Keep your phone put away while riding.
🌙 Use lights and reflective gear when riding at dawn, dusk, or night.
🚫 Never ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
👥 One rider per e-bike or e-scooter unless the vehicle is designed for passengers.

Whether you're commuting, exercising, or just having fun, a few simple precautions can help prevent serious injuries.

June is National PTSD Awareness Month. 💙

Not all wounds are visible. Many service members experience post-traumatic stress after serving in environments where they are trained to operate under intense structure, discipline, and pressure to protect our freedom and country. Transitioning back to civilian life can bring new and unexpected challenges.

For some veterans, professional support can make a meaningful difference during this transition.

Veridian Behavioral Health is here to help. For support, please call 785-452-4930.

Throughout the year, these students will work alongside NCKMC staff in a variety of departments, gaining real-world experience and developing skills that will help them achieve their employment goals.

We look forward to supporting Noah, Katana, and Isabell as they begin this exciting journey and become part of the NCKMC family. Please join us in welcoming them!
