As a massage therapist that focuses more on pain relief, sports therapy and deep tissue modalities, I often find myself learning more and more about areas that are important to me. Often, they are issues that I also struggle with and aim to learn more as to how to help others like myself. Although I love a good relaxation only massage and have many clients that do as well, I've aged alongside my clients over my 27 year career. I've learned to focus and direct my intentions and knowledge to the pain relief and mobility side of things. Often times, it involves a session that is focused solely on the area(s) that are in need of pain relief instead of a full body session. Full body massage in 60 minutes is difficult in ensuring that specific focus can be done to problem area(s) in order for specific areas to receive the proper attention. I am not a physical therapist or personal trainer, nor can I advise exercise as such, but I can give you the same links to information that I have access to in order to help your specific problem. I often send videos and links to my clients when I come upon ones that I feel could help them when they are in between their massage sessions.
The area in this video can definitely be painful in some patients, but the outcome can also be amazing! Our legs and feet need to do the hard work for us into our older years. Flexibility, mobility, strengthening and balance are the most important things to work on with age, in my opinion.
