🧠 Think of the nervous system like a car with a gas pedal and a brake.

The gas pedal is your sympathetic nervous system — fight, flight, alertness, and action.

The brake is your parasympathetic nervous system — rest, digestion, recovery, and regulation.

For children with autism, sensory processing and nervous-system regulation can be more challenging, and they may seem like they’re spending a lot of time with the “gas pedal” pushed down.

Our goal is to assess the nervous system, address areas of neurological dysfunction, and support kiddos overall ability to adapt and regulate.

The goal isn’t to change who your child is. ❤️
It’s to help their nervous system function as well as possible.

PANS/PANDAS can be confusing—and for many families, the changes can feel like they came out of nowhere.

After an infection, some children can experience a sudden onset of symptoms like anxiety or OCD-like behaviors, irritability, sensory changes, trouble at school, fatigue, or even loss of previously learned skills.

PANS/PANDAS involves a complex interaction between the immune system and the brain.

At Manifest Chiropractic, we look closely at nervous system function and use objective testing to help us understand how a child is adapting to stress. Chiropractic care is not a treatment or cure for PANS/PANDAS, but it may be used as part of a broader supportive care plan alongside appropriate medical evaluation and treatment.

If your child experienced a sudden, dramatic change after an illness or infection, don’t ignore it. Ask questions. Get them evaluated. And keep advocating for them.

Sensory overwhelm. Trouble calming down. Poor coordination. Difficulty with transitions. Sleep struggles. Hyperactivity.

These can all be signs that a child is having a harder time processing and adapting to the world around them.

At Manifest Chiropractic, we use non-invasive nervous system scans to help us objectively assess patterns of neurological stress and determine whether chiropractic care may be appropriate.
