Have you ever asked yourself if you feel good enough?

If you are like most adult children from dysfunctional homes, you have spent your life living in survival mode and rarely ever stopped to ask yourself if you felt good enough. Adult children who grow up feeling invisible, unseen, and as if they are a burden to the adults in their life, grow accustomed to growing preoccupied with HOW OTHERS perceive them, as opposed to learning to know the self.

When you spend your life, looking outside of you for approval, you DON'T KNOW it...you just DO IT...You are NOT aware your SUBCONSCIOUS mind has literally been PROGRAMMED to live in a hypervigilant state, as a way to survive more pain.

There are many reasons why you might not feel good enough, like being raised in an alcoholic home, with a codependent parent who was more preoccupied with managing a partner's addiction than how the alcoholism was impacting the children of the home. Children who do not have parents who respond to them consistently and appropriately, grow up feeling unworthy of love.

When a child makes a mistake, they’re not just looking for consequences—they’re looking for connection.

They’re wondering:
“Am I still loved?”
“Am I safe?”
“Will you still accept me?”

If we respond with harshness or shame, they learn to hide.
If we respond with calm, compassion, and guidance, they learn to come closer.

We don’t need to excuse the behaviour—but we do need to protect the relationship.
Because over time, that trust becomes the foundation for honesty, accountability, and emotional safety.

Let’s be the ones they run to, not the ones they fear.
