🧰 Shoulders, elbows, knees, ankles, hands, feet, jaw/tmj: Dr. Galvin's adjusting skill-set doesn't stop with the spine, it inclues the extremities and the cranium.

🩺 One of the areas we speacialize in is the sacroiliac joint.
And because so many muscles attach to the pelvis, symptoms far away from the pelvis can actually be being caused by a sacroiliac joint problem. Some of these symptoms are:
Shoulder pain
Neck pain
Foot/ankle pain
IT band syndrome
knee pain
hip pain
elbow pain
wrist pain
headaches
temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problems/TMD

🤸 Not only is shoulder pain one of the most common injuries, but studies have found that on average 50% of people with shoulder pain complain of pain 6 months after even seeing their doctor!

🪃 Sacroiliac (SI) joint dysfunction can lead to shoulder problems through kinetic chain compensation, where instability or malalignment in the pelvis forces the upper body, ribcage, and shoulder girdle to adjust their mechanics and posture to maintain balance.

🗜️🎯 One area that many Chirpractors miss when adjusting the SI joint is they focuses on mobilization when it may need stabilization. 🙏☯️👁️🧘🏼‍♂️💜

🏈 ⚽🏋️‍♀️ Is your bad neck or back keeping you from doing the things that you love the most? 🎻🐎🏃‍♂️

They say, “If you don’t use it, you lose it” 💩 🪠

We don’t want a health problem to become permanent for you. And we don’t want you to experience perpetual trauma from your past. ⏳🤮

🏆🥇But people may get better at the things that they practice the most, which may involve things such as:
*Balance
*Strength
*Function
*Postural control

….that's not a list of proprioception, but they all use proprioception information. ✨

🤔Joint proprioception is your body's ability to sense the position, movement, and location of your joints in space, without relying on your vision 🧠

🔏When a spinal segment loses its normal mobility, it alters the feedback loop between the joint's nerve receptors (mechanoreceptors) and the brain. This can cause a local "proprioceptive deficit," dulling the brain's accurate map of the spine and affecting balance or posture.

🔍Does your brain usually categorize trauma into patterns that show up in the body as compensations and postural distortions?

Dr. Galvin has many "tools in his tool bag" of things that work.
Do you know of anyone where their low back pain keeps re-occurring? The problems might be tied to the other end, at their head with their cranium. Dr. Galvin is one of the only Chiropractors in the San Antonio area that does cranial adjusting.

Treatment of Low Back Pain by Cranial Adjustment: A case report
How cranial treatment can help patients with low back pain. Manual muscle testing included.

🫪What does the research say?

🔥🔥Chiropractic care helps clear your spine of neuroarticular dysfunctional joints.

🌋When a joint is described as "neuroarticular dysfunctional," it means that its structural mechanics (bones, cartilage, ligaments) and its neurological components (pain receptors, position-sensing nerves, motor control) are failing to work together correctly.✨

These vertebrae are locked in place and fail to move properly.

👊This dysfunction can manifest across several different medical frameworks and conditions; examples:

🧨Neurogenic Inflammation in Osteoarthritis (OA)-
Emerging research increasingly views osteoarthritis not just as simple "wear and tear," but as a disease intimately tied to the joint's nervous system.
• The Mechanism: When joint nerves become dysfunctional, they can release pro-inflammatory neuropeptides (such as Substance P) directly into the joint space. This "neurogenic inflammation" accelerates cartilage breakdown and alters blood flow to the joint tissues.
• Proprioception Loss: Aging or injury reduces the nerves' ability to accurately sense joint position, leading to abnormal mechanical loading and accelerated joint failure.💣

💥Sacroiliac (SI) Joint Dysfunction-
• The sacroiliac joints (connecting the spine to the pelvis) are heavily innervated by nerve roots. Flawed movement here—whether too much movement (hypermobility) or too little (hypomobility)—irritates the surrounding dense web of nerve fibers. This creates a loop of severe localized and even radiating pain, often mimicking sciatica or disc herniations.

💥🧠Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs) & Concussions:
The reason specialized clinics exist for TBI cranial work is because standard medicine often leaves concussion patients with few answers for chronic symptoms like brain fog, pressure headaches, and dizziness.
💫💫The Clinical Evidence: For TBI management, manual therapy (including gentle cranial and cervical work) frequently scores high marks in patient satisfaction and symptom reduction.
🤔💩The Caveat in the Data: When major medical boards or systematic reviews look at these studies, they point out a design limitation: it is incredibly difficult to isolate the cranial mechanism (moving skull bones or fluid) from the cervical mechanism (treating the neck). Because a TBI almost always involves a severe whiplash-style neck injury, treating the tight muscles, joints, and nerves at the base of the skull provides massive relief to the nervous system.
Because manual therapy is hands-on, it is nearly impossible to design a "blind" fake treatment, meaning cranial research rarely meets the strict criteria needed for mainstream medical endorsement.
❤️❤️The Bottom Line: The fact that large medical reviews struggle to validate cranial work doesn't cancel out the fact that the cranial adjustments can be highly effective for managing symptoms. If a clinic helped a patient sleep better, eliminated or reduced their headache intensity, or in helping a patient turn their head freely, the therapy is providing legitimate clinical value. 💪 🏋
