We often hear mama’s say, “My baby is already 10 months old, it can’t be postpartum depression.”
In reality, postpartum depression can begin anytime within the first year after delivery, and perinatal mental health conditions can start during pregnancy. Some mama’s also notice mood changes when weaning from breastfeeding, even beyond the first year, as hormones shift again. You’re not “too late” to get support.
Dads, you are not overlooked in the perinatal mental health space. Lack of sleep, increased stress, and even hormonal changes after a baby is born can contribute to increased anxiety, depression, and emotional strain for fathers too. Support is for you as well!
