The Handmade Herbarium::Collecting, Printing & Binding Plant Knowledge

Join me for two creative days exploring the plants growing all around us. We'll gather responsibly, learn principles of ethical harvesting, make botanical inks and pigments, create luminous eco-prints, and bind everything into a handmade herbarium that becomes part field journal, part artist book, and part conversation with the living world.

This workshop is for artists, gardeners, nature lovers, book enthusiasts, and anyone longing to reconnect with the more-than-human world through making.

Calling on my creative community!

I'm looking for a large, bright wall where I can photograph a stop-motion video for my latest installation (working title: St. Joan's Wort: A Daily Dose).

I'm imagining a spacious studio in one of the old mill or factory buildings, a barn, or another light-filled space with a clean wall. I'm open to ideas!

I'll be temporarily hanging small 5 × 7 paper prints using wall-safe painter's tape, so nothing will be damaged. I expect to need the space for about 3 hours during the day to take advantage of natural light.

If you have a space—or know someone who does—I would be so grateful for any leads. Western Massachusetts preferred, but I'm happy to travel for the right space.

A Summer Cyanotype Extravaganza:
Summer Light, Blue Alchemy & Botanical Prints

Join us for a festive weekend of creative play, a celebration of the luminous blue world of cyanotype, a luminous gathering of art-making, experimentation, and botanical play.

This is not simply a workshop. It is a creative retreat, a printmaking feast, and a fun deep dive into one of photography’s oldest and most magical processes.

Across two full days we will transform paper, cloth, and found objects, and gathered botanicals into radiant Prussian blue prints using sunlight, water, and imagination. Expect an atmosphere of curiosity, abundance, and creative immersion.

We will explore:

Botanical printing and layered compositions
Cloth, lace, transparencies, and experimental surfaces
Toning techniques and unexpected color shifts
Large collaborative prints and playful improvisation

Lately I’ve been developing the phrase “shrine thinking” to describe a way of working that has slowly emerged through my practice.
Not shrine as object.
Not shrine as religion.
But shrine as a mode of attention.
This new essay, Shrine Thinking: A Field Note Toward a Future Theory, reflects on grids, archives, apothecaries, botanical fragments, feminist revisioning, and the question of how we might learn to “breathe differently within inherited structures.”
