🔍 Happy Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month! Our CMC sonographers are spilling a few secrets about life behind the probe. 👀
1️⃣ We don’t just scan babies! Livers, thyroids, breasts, blood vessels, muscles, abscesses, and more. If ultrasound can see it, someone will eventually ask us to scan it.
2️⃣ We go everywhere. The ER, ICU, inpatient rooms, surgery, and procedures. Ultrasound lets us see what’s happening in real time, like guiding needles or tracking a structure on the move.
3️⃣ Our machines are basically our work husbands. 💼 We push them around all day, fight with the wheels, plug and unplug them nonstop, and trip over the probe wires more than we’d like to admit.
4️⃣ It’s not just “press scan, take pretty pictures.” We have to know anatomy, pathology, ultrasound physics, Doppler, and machine settings, plus how to spot when something doesn’t look right.
5️⃣ We’re detectives at heart, piecing together every patient like a puzzle. 🕵️
6️⃣ Our biggest enemies? Bowel gas and ribs. 😤
